For the Time Being

Updated on September 11, 2017

For the time being...

It came upon me wave after wave,

Bringing me to my knees,

I then gravitated to the floor,

Any resistance was futile,

And like how the rain comes,

So did the pain,

Surging through my body unabated,

My muscles, my bones, my heart...oh my heart,

The unforgiving agony of the soul,

Laying face down on the floor,

Writhing in so much pain,

I cry out yet there is no sound,

A sad emptiness leaves my mouth,

Tears fall down from my face,

No sound is made when they hit the floor,

My vision is clouded,

My body trembles,

My breath is shallow,

I attempt to regain control,

The pain, oh the pain,

I lay there,

Slowly my strength regains,

My soul lazily puts itself together,

Piece by piece,

I raise my body to my knees,

What seems like an eternity,

I wearily stand up, ever so slowly,

Eyes glistening,

Head up to the ceiling,

The heart is sore,

I look forward,

Take a small step,

Then another,

And then another,

It turns into a small walk,

I am alive,

The pain subsides

For the time being...
