The toddler in us

freed with every tender laugh

joy in the country

singing his own tune

as loud as he can sing

by keyhole garden

with each planted tree

a memory of every child

on their day, this day

at this age of three

the wind can blow you over

your roots are settled

when you sleep you dream

of the yard full of your friends

the wet April soil

I cannot believe Foot-foot is already three. Where does the time go? Great poems. A wonderful way to mark those important milestones. Best wishes to Elias on his special day.

Sorry I've only just caught up with this, Jamie.

I love the way you celebrate your children's birthdays with Haiku; it's such an appropriate form to use. You capture the things which happen at each young age; it's refreshing and hopeful and lifts the spirits. You obviously have such great love for your children and they are lucky to have such a father.

Hope you and yours are well. Have a great Wednesday; ours is soon coming to an end!

      Ann
