April Haiku #996

Updated on April 30, 2016

when the wind pushes

our family inside our home

safe under shelter

when the Pine Tree shade

all the planted bulbs from fall

whose fragile stems live

the toads will begin

to burrow by water pump

serenade our nights

Quail will start to run

filling the yard with their young

silent hunt of cat

the jack rabbits hide

underneath the scent of sage

for a moments rest

lone squirrel skitters

quickly to the nearest tree

to find a seed in cone

through the many Bluebirds

Magpie spread a full wingspan

our chickens on a stroll

set out the dogs run free

all the young, small, large, and old

disappear into spring

We're having wind and rain storms, although it's autumn at the moment, so enjoyed your haiku.
