A brilliantly talented kid thats always been underestimated by those around him, but not for much longer...
It was 12:30 when I started heading back to class. It was a beautifully sunny day. Not too hot, not too windy or cold either, just right enough to sit by a pool with a nice braai going on whilst I sipped in my rum. It didn't sound to bad of a plan, if it wasn't for the fact I had to be home doing things only 'losers' would do...
Sigh, I thought when I saw myself cleaning the house, and being interogated from almost everyone. If only I had a car to be able to do the things I actually wanna do to get me somewhere? I really didn't like the idea of sitting at home with everyone down my neck all the time. But, what do I do?
Just then, my phone rings, almost back to class, physics, which I really enjoyed. I answer it anyway. It was Duane that came on.
"Hey you" he says.
"Hey. What's happening?" I ask.
"Nothing, yet. You okay?" He enquires.
"Yea, no I'm fine. Just not in the mood to go home really. You?"
"Well, that's why I'm calling. I kinda need a friends company today. Shit's just outa whack today. Need some fun."
"Yea, that makes two of us. Why'd you phone me if you looking for fun? Don't you hear what the others say about me? You should be heading for the hills by now?" I say, thinking of all the 'friends' I've encountered on the way.
"Ha! Please. On the contrary. I assess by my eyes, not my ears, or I won't get anywhere. What others say about you don't match the actions you do on a daily basis. I like what I see, and I'm inviting you for a beer. You in?" He asks.
"Oh, and P.S., I don't want you to worry about what other people have to say about you, especially when I'm around James, you are a really good guy." He adds.
"Thank you, it's very sweet of you to say that. Are you sure you're 100% straight? Sometimes I wonder my friend. You are awfully kind and complemtentative towards me." I say without thinking.
"Pfft, I call it like I see it. When you want me to pick you up? And where we going?" He asks.
I honestly wouldn't mind even if he was bi, he's a nice guy that acknowledges me and seems to appreciate me for a person. Plus he's attractive and has a really awesome car: a chevy Camero in black and red. I always enjoy when he picks me up. Even let's me drive, it's awesome! I'm in.
"Uh, how bout 17:30? Should be done with my chores by then." I reply.
"Oh come on, really? I wanted to day drink a bit... ugh, okay fine. Enjoy physics class." He says.
"Wait, how'd you know-?"
Couldn't even finish my question when he hung up. Ass.
Well, it was my last class of the day anyway. At least a bit of enjoyment before I go home.
Once we had finished learning about the difference between momentum and inertia and a couple of fun experiments that our professor usually doesn't allow, I head out of class, and see Duane just outside the door.
"What you doing here?" Shocked to see him.
"I said 17:30 didn't I?"
"You did" he said. "But I wasn't gonna take no for an answer, plus, you a grown ass man dude. I'll take you home, I'll talk to your dad, and you're gonna come with me, okay?" He insists.
"Ha! You, talk to my dad? This should be interesting." I say sarcastically.
We get home, and I hear a glass just smash, and yelling. Dad's drunk and pissed again.
"Don't worry, I'm right here, okay?" Duane says. "Let's go and face that together?"
I take a deep breath, and get out the car.
"Ey, where you been all fucking day?" Was the first thing out his mouth.
"At college, learning shit." I snap back.
"And who's this? Your boyfriend fag?"
"Dad, that's not right-" I start saying.
"Better had watched your mouth sir." Duane warns.
"Who d'you think y'are? Coming in my house and speaking to me like-" the asshole replies.
"It's not your fucking house, you drunk piece of-" Duane starts saying.
"Duane! Not now!" I raise my voice.
"What the fuck you say to me young boy?" My day advances on Duane. Swings a left, but misses. Duane deflects and, with a series of quick blows, had my dad on his knees.
"Thats just a friendly reminder! If you EVER speak to my FRIEND that way again, or hurt him, I'm personally going to make your misery a part of my life mission, and I WILL come out on top, DO you hear me you piece of shit? I'm not scared of you, you're just a rudy ol' coward. Seen you're type before." Duane puts him in his place, and on his ass.
"Wow, um-" I start saying.
"Let's get outa here. Go gear up, pack heavy iv I were you, yea?" He says.
"Just pack heavy" he insists.
"O- kay?" I reply, heading upstairs to my room.
Up in my room, I grab basically everything I can find that'll serve a purpose for a bit, and maybe a few more, just in case. Toiletries, towel, clothes, my tools, books, notes, laptop, Duane starts taking my pc. Things like that. Once we got everything loaded into the car, we start driving. Just driving in a bit of silence.
"We gonna tal-?" I start asking.
"Roll us a joint there please" he asks.
This time I'm not driving, he needs to cool down. So I roll a spliff, sativa a-grade.
"Where we headed?" I ask, lighting the spliff.
"To a place I call my safe haven first." He replies.
"How far out is it?" I enquire.
"It's a distance, but we both need a break, plus there is something I've been wanting to do for a while, but not where we come from." He says, reluctant on giving too much info out.
We carry on driving, the tension still thick in the car. We put on some music and open a beer that he had packed before hand. My favourite, Windhoek Draught.
"Okay, we're here." He says.
It's just another bloody club. How I enjoy those.
"It's not just any club James." Like he'd just read my mind.
"This is the place I have found freedom in. Give it a shot, for me?" He asks.
"Oh, since you asked so nicely." I agree.
We head in to four major dance floors, about five bars, and we headed straight upstairs to the exclusive lounge. This guy had money, obviously. Everyone here knew him. Where were we?
The music started to get softer as we headed to the sky deck which had the most unbelievable view, you actually forgot you were in a club.
"Wow!" I exclaimed at the view.
"I said the same thing when I first got up here, and I'm saying it again, for a different reason. There is a reason I called you up here James." He started to say as he moved closer to me, slowly.
"What? To gain my trust through friendship just to get me to a really high place and toss me off?" I say sarcastically, with him still moving slowly. Kinda weird if you ask me.
"No- you asked me a question earlier about me, in an innocent manner. And I'm here to answer that now." He continues.
"Um... what? About being 100%-" I started to say.
He got in close enough, pulled me closer, grabbed the back of my head and just kissed me.
Oh my word! What the hell? He's into guys?! I thought, absolutely gobsmacked... He continues to kiss with a passion like fire.
The world starts spinning, fading out. Everyone disappears, I feel like I'm floating up hight, and it's not because of the spliff or beer this time. My fuck he can kiss.
"Where the fuck did that come from Duane?" I ask, shocked as shit.
"Yea, no, I'm not straight, I'm actually gay and I can't take this lie anymore. You are the most amazing man I have met, the sexiest, most intelligent, talented little bugger to have walked. I liked you from the moment I met you, I just needed to get the guts to admit to myself, and to kiss you, seeing as though you a decent guy that respects the line. I don't know of you like me in return, but-"
I cut him off to kiss him back, harder than what he did me, to show him I'm interested.
"Hmmm..." He says in approval.
"I would like to then ask you something, sexy?" He says.
"I'm all ears handsome." I replied.
"Would you see yourself dating someone like me?" He asks, sheepishly.
"Aww, it's so cute when you shy. Of course yes! And, by the way, how does someone like you, that just basically took out my dad, get shy?"
It was fucking adorable!
"Well, when it comes to matters of the heart, I'm a bit of a different type of guy." He informs.
"You're to sweet...." I say.
"Oh, I've got a surprise for you by the way. I was really hoping you said yes before I showed you this."
"What? That came out of nowhere." I said, curious. That was weird.
We head downstairs and out the building, towards the car.
"Oh no, we just got here, where we going now?" I ask.
He had parked right next to a really sexy Audi RS3 sedan. What a bloody sexy car to me.
He says nothing, just reaches into his pocket and pulls out a pair of keys I don't recognise, and throws them to me.
"What's this?" I ask, holding up a set of Audi keys.
"Just click the button." He says, impatiently.
I click, and it's the RS3!
"Okay, some clarity on the subject please?" I ask.
"Oh dumbass, it's yours!" He says.
"WHAT? Mine? You're kidding?" I scream.
"You've got the key, you tell me? Try him on." He says.
"No way! Oh, yea. I wanna ask," I start getting into the drivers seat. "Why did you hope for me to say yes before you showed me the car?" I ask.
"Well, some people only go for people if they have money or get gifts. I didn't want you to feel obligated to say yes." He said.
"Aww... I would have said yes even if you had nothing. You are an amazing man with a good heart. And beautiful eyes." I compliment.
Next moment, we hear car revving and screams.
"Oh shit... they're here... start driving, fast!" He exclaims, jumping in with me.
"Okay, where to?" I ask, flooring it.
"Just, anywhere, I'll direct to a safe place. Listen, there is something you need to know about me sexy." He says. "And I'll understand if you never want to see me again about dyer this."
"What the hell? What's going on?" I ask.
"There's a side to me you don't know James. A very, very dark side..."
