Detective Will Swosh sat next to a teenage girl. “I don’t know what it looked like,” the girl said, wrapping her arms tightly around her legs and burying her head into her knees.
“It’s okay Sammi,” Swosh said, sympathetically. “Just tell me anything that you can think of because any information can help me catch the person that attacked the two of you.”
“Okay, I’ll try,” Sammi said, wiping dried tears from her cheeks. “My boy…” She paused, scowling at the teenage boy that is sitting next to an officer. “My boyfriend Branden and I were, you know, messin around, when that star shined down on the car.” Sammi pointed to a large star that beamed brightly from the dark night sky, on to the group of people roaming around the crime scene. “Before we knew it, this guy shows up throws Branden from the can, and then he left.”
“The guy that attacked the two of you, can you tell me what he looked like?” Swosh asked.
Sammi sighed, “He had horns on his head. You know horns that you’d see on a goats head.” Swosh scanned the teenage girls face, as he tried to hide his disbelief of the girl’s story. “I know that it sounds weird, but he had horns on his head and was wearing a red suit,” the girl’s vision jumping from Swosh to Branden and back to Swosh. “No one’s gonna believe me, no matter what I say,” starting to cry.
“I believe you Sammi, I mean we’re sitting in the middle of Old Bourbon Road,” the detective smirked. “Weird things always happen here.”
“Wait, what,” Sammi looking confused by the detective’s statement. “Are you saying that we’re sitting in some kind of haunted highway?”
Swosh grinned, “you could call it haunted if you want to. I like to think strange things just happen on this road.” The detective looked over at a pair of ambulances that had just pulled in to the scene of the attack. “Sammi, I think I’ve gotten enough information for the moment. If you can, I would like you to go to the hospital so that they can check you over and make sure you don’t have any internal damage,” he said, standing up and extending his hand to help the girl from the ground.
“I’m fine, I just want to go home and pretend this night never happened.”
“I’m sure you’re fine, but, its standard procedure that the victims get checked out. Especially with the nature of the attack.”
The girl heaved a sigh and slowly walked to one of the ambulances and allowed the female EMT to help her inside the vehicle.
Swosh walked up to the EMT. “Can you let the exam doctor know that Sammi needs time, so make sure the doctor takes their time with the exam.”
“What should I tell the doctor?”
“I think she was forced to have sex and she’s probably never had sex before tonight, and I would bet she’s never had any type of invasive checkups,” Swosh put his right hand to the back of his head and let it sit there while he looked at the ground. “So the doctor needs to show a lot of patience with this girl.”
“Okay detective, I’ll pass along the information,” she turned and stepped into the ambulance and shut the door.
Swosh tapped on the closed door and watched the vehicle drive away. The detective changed his attention to the teenage boy. The dark haired boy sat confidently next to an officer. “Hey, you’re Branden right?” Swosh asked the boy, watching the young man’s posture change. “How are you?”
“I-I-I’m okay. Where are you taking my girlfriend?” nervously looking at the detective in the eyes, and then looking away.
“Sammi has to go to the hospital to get checked out.”
“She’s not hurt,” Branden’s voice squealed in fear.
“I know she’s fine but, my boss makes me do this stuff; that’s the rules,” Swosh said, shrugging his shoulders. “You’ll have to go to the hospital as well, just to make sure you’re ok,” the detective sat next to the teenager. “Can you tell me what happened?”
“Sure I can,” the teen said confidently. “Me and my girlfriend were having sex when suddenly this guy grabs me and pulls me out of the car.”
“Can you tell me what this guy looks like?”
“He was wearing a goat’s mask and a red suit,” a grin appeared on Branden’s face. “It sounds funny when I say it out loud.”
“Ha ha, did he hurt you?”
“No he didn’t hurt me, but I think he did drug me because I would’ve kicked his ass,” Brandon said, balling his right hand into a fist and hitting the palm of his left hand.
Swosh put his hands in the air, mocking fear. “Whoa okay there tough guy, before you passed out, what happened?”
“I’m pretty sure Sammi waved him into the car so they could do it.”
“You mean have sex?”
“Yeah, that girl wanted it day and night, even when I didn’t want to do it. She was like, come on Brandon be a man?”
“So Branden, when they were finished having sex, did the goat man do anything else?” Swosh said, struggling to hold back his disgust with the teenager.
“I don’t know, by that time I was passed out. I did wake up until about an hour or so ago. Now all I want to do is go home.”
“Sorry Branden, I have to send you to the hospital so that you get checked out. I want to make sure that the goat man didn’t do anything to you. You know physical,” Swosh said, standing up and putting his hand out to help the obnoxious teen up from the ground. The EMT will take you to the hospital, and I’ll meet you there,” the detective paused to look into the boy’s eyes. “If you leave Branden before we have a chance to speak with one another, I’ll be very disappointed.”
The boy froze from the sternness of the stare and the words the man said. “O-okay I-I’ll meet y-you there.”
“Branden, remember if you leave I’ll have to treat like a suspect instead of a victim. Which means that you’ll be spending time in jail.” The detective said, watching the boy sluggishly go into the ambulance.
Well, then Will it’s time to find out the truth about this case.” Swosh thought, turning to the crime scene
