A Trip to the Car Agency ...

The agency, where the car was located, was at a small private airport. Patrons would have to sometimes shout to be heard above the noise. There seemed to have been a mix-up at the agency and a couple, Mr. and Mrs. George Bailey were waiting for a car to take them to the coast as well. However there was only one car available.

“Parlez-vous anglais (Do you speak English?)” George Bailey asked the man behind the desk.

“Where is that car? We were promised a car!” An excited Edna Bailey screamed at the clerk.

“Pourriez-vous parler lentement et clairement, S'il vous plaît (Could you speak slowly and clearly please.)” Replied the desk clerk nervously in rapid French.

“Pouvez-vous répéter cela, s'il vous plait (Can you repeat this please?)” George said slowly getting upset. “La voiture (The car?)”

“But we have got to get to that yacht. Our friends will be looking for us. We don’t want to be left behind. We’ve got to get that car.” Mrs. Edna Bailey whined.

“Excusez-moi (Excuse me?)” Andréa spoke in that soft sultry voice. She had overheard bits and pieces of the conversation—enough to realize that there was a problem with their transportation.

“George, its Andréa Dupree!” Edna cried. Edna rushed over to Andréa but was intercepted by George.

“Bonjour, Comment allez-vous (Hello, how are you?)” George said.

“Ça va bien, merci. Comment vous appellez-vous (Alright thank you. What do you call yourself?)” Andréa said smiling.

George and Edna Bailey were thrilled to finally meet Andrea!

Meeting the Baileys …

“Je m'appelle George Bailey! (My name is Gorge Bailey!)” George said smiling broadly, proud of his ability to speak French although when it was spoken to him in rapid-fire he had problems understanding all the words However, Edna only knew a couple of words and never really bothered to learn the beautiful language. All she could comprehend was that her favorite model turned actress was standing in front of her.

“I’m Edna Bailey, and I am one of your biggest fans!” Edna said unable to contain herself any longer. “I bought the DVD of Journey After Dark as soon as it came out.”

“Enchanté de faire votre connaissance. (Pleased to meet you.”) Andréa said smiling. “And let me say in English, since you are my biggest fan; I insist you have the car!”

“Je ne comprends pas. Que faîtes-vous?! (I don't understand what you're doing?!)” Jon-Luc protested loudly.

“Its okay, Jon-Luc, I will either wait or take this one of père’s. You will just have to tag along with me, I guess.” Andréa said, giving Jon-Luc her biggest smile.

“Madame Excusez-moi. (Excuse me.)” The desk clerk replied very nervously moving Andréa and her brother out of hearing of the Baileys.

“Je suis désolé de vous déranger, mais...!” (I'm sorry to disturb you, but ...) the clerk started but was interrupted by Andréa.

“Il faut prendre quelle direction, pour aller vers le centre ville?” (You have to take what direction, to get to the city center?) She was going to suggest to the Baileys that she could drop them off but seeing the eager looks on George and Edna’s faces; Andréa knew she had promised them the car and could not renege.

“It’s okay; Baileys have the car S'il vous plaît.” (If you please.) Andréa smiled and walked back to her father’s car with Jon-Luc. Then she turned toward the Baileys.

“A plus tard.” (See you later.) Andréa smiled.

“A bientôt.” (See you soon.) George said also smiling.

“Au revoir!” (Good bye!) Edna replied saying one of the few French terms she knew.

It was hard for Andrea to relinquish the car. It was a dream and she even loved the color! However, she made the Baileys a promise.

A Change of Plans …

“Andie, there must be someone at the studio that thinks a lot of you to arrange for you to have such a splendid looking car. It’s almost as grand as my new Lamborghini. I wonder if he will be offended.” Jon-Luc stated.

“I don’t know, Jon-Luc. It was a beautiful Brougham wasn’t it. It’s unusual that the studio would have ordered that for me to drive. And, why do you think it was a man who made the arrangements?” Andréa said with a smile as she waved to the couple as they sped on their way, trying to meet with their friends in time.

“Would a woman take so much interest in your comfort?” Jon-Luc asked.

“Only one that thought she had something to gain by the act.” Andréa said displaying a six sense.

There is definitely something going on. That is an extremely expensive car the studio is providing for Andrea. Yes, she is an important star but a Lamborghini?
