Dr. Bamberger’s Miracle Compost ...
Painstakingly, Dr. Abigail Huber, along with her staff, work on converting the formula ALZ-903 so that it can be successfully mixed with Nitrogen, Phosphate and Potash—these being the chief ingredients in plant nutrients. During the first two weeks, there are difficulties with the base ingredients. Abigail knows that Baron Schröder has no tolerance for failure. The assassination of Ian Schmidt proves this. So she works tirelessly for the right blend.
In spite of the setbacks, instead of the four week deadline, it only takes about three weeks for Abigail to finalize not one but two supplemental plant growth aids. Two serums, one that will successfully destroy wheat production and the other that will revitalize the production of it. This product will be distributed throughout the UK, the other European Countries, China, and India. The final destination is of course the United States. Then Abigail gives Baron Schröder a cautionary statement.
“The United States may not be as easy to manipulate as the other countries. President Kurt Westbrook is no dummy. It would be foolish to underestimate him.” Abigail offers.
“I believe you are right. How do you propose we handle this?” Heinrich inquires, not missing the pleased look on Abigail’s face.
“First, we get that 3rd party manufacturer to distribute the effective nutrient laced with my advanced ALZ-903 formula. Let everyone experience it’s positive effects and benefit from its usage.” Abigail suggests.
“Ah, then we introduce the altered serum and leave the fish squirming on the hook.” Both individuals laugh.
“Right! It will be a systematic approach. This has to be done delicately. No one must guess that either you or I have anything to do with it.” Abigail drives this point home.
“Leave that up to me. I don’t want my father involved with this. He has recovered from his illness and I will not have him upset.” Heinrich is emphatic regarding this.
“What about Andor and Andris?” Abigail queries.
“Andor is too big of a risk. He would never go along with anything so devious.” Heinrich replies.
“He is a gullible fool when it comes to women. It was actually Andris who leaked out information regarding my latest project. Even Marko thinks I told that French wench Paulette about it, but it was Andris.” Heinrich confesses.
“Why didn’t you tell him otherwise?” Abigail is surprised by this revelation.
“Family pride, I guess. I felt it better if he thought it was me than to allow him to know that Andris is not capable of handling secrets.” Heinrich answers.
“So—this is the main reason you don’t want them involved.” Abigail shakes her head in approval.
“Yes. Now there is an American that I want you to get in contact with. His name is Eric Singleton.” Heinrich states.
“Eric Singleton—wasn’t he the man that had connections with Colonel Schneider? How do you know of him?” Abigail tries to remember the man.
“He is. Johannes Fischer put me in contact with him through Baron Balogh’s request.” Heinrich clarifies.
“Johannes Fischer? Yes, I know him. He’s a pretty reputable fellow, Baron.” Abigail warns.
“Not to worry—I have it on good recommendations that he can be very discreet.” Heinrich reassures.
“Hmm ...” Abigail raises an eyebrow.
“Anyway—Eric Singleton managed not to get caught regarding this Colonel Schneider fiasco, didn’t he—like you didn’t.” Heinrich reminds her.
“Right.” This acknowledgement placates Abigail for the time being.
“Eric has great connections. We will get him to contact a total of three of his manufacturing and distribution cohorts.” Heinrich expounds.
“That’s smart—not having just one company involved in the caper—spread it around a bit.” Abigail agrees.
“Right again. Let one company be responsible for adding the mixture to the stimulant. Then, let another process and package the product. And a third distributor will sell the finished product on the market as Dr. Bamberger’s Miracle Compost!” Heinrich chuckles.
“Who is this Dr. Bamberger?” Abigail looks at him in wonderment.
“A fictious character my mother used to read to me about as a child. He was always inventing things that other people would never imagine possible.” Heinrich explains.
“Then Dr. Bamberger will be the ideal pseudonym for me.” Abigail joins in the merriment.
“Here’s to the perfect plan. It is okay to use Marko Balogh’s Granary for your enhancing of the nutrient, but we have to get others involved in the actual execution of it.” Heinrich figurative gives himself a pat on the back.
“And what if anything should leak out?” Abigail has learned from experience that nothing is 100% foolproof.
“Then it will become necessary for me to permanently plug up the leak.” Heinrich retorts in a straightforward manner. This last comment makes Abigail quiver involuntarily.
Meanwhile, Dominic and Shirley land at the Zürich Airport. It is a beautiful day and Shirley finds herself captivated by the grandeur of it all. She also becomes greatly impressed because of the smooth way in which Dominic has handled the Customs situation. The fact that he has been expected makes it possible to get then both through Customs with the least amount of fanfare.
“Well, here we are Shirl.” Dominic says as he gently grabs her elbow and ushers her through the doors.
“I’m just curious—do you happen to have a nickname? You know, since saying Dominic is quite a mouthful.” Shirley teases.
“You can call me Nicki if you’d like.” Dominic replies.
“I like that—Nicki. So where to now, Nicki?” Shirley questions.
“Andor Balogh has arranged for us to stay in one of their rented cottages. It seems that the regular tenants are going to be away for a couple of weeks so we will have the run of it.” Dominic supplies this information to Shirley.
“Hmm, that seems to be pushing it a bit close—doesn’t it? If I’m not mistaken, isn’t Heinrich Schröder Andor’s uncle?” Shirley has heard quite a bit regarding the Schröder clan.
“That’s the beauty of it, Shirl. You would never expect the fox to set up residence in the Hen House, now would you?” Dominic gives Shirley a big smile.
