Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening to all those reading. Welcome to the introduction to my blog, Enchanted by the Island. My name is Wolfe Rygaard and for the next year, I'll be documenting my experiences on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico.
Before diving into the juicy content, I just wanted to do some quick house cleaning. First and foremost, although I want to describe every single detail about my Caribbean experience so you too can feel like you are on the island, I will have to leave some parts quite vague for the sake of privacy. I have heard one too many horror stories about crazed fans locating online personalities after piecing together details in their content. I apologize in advance for some of the confusion this may cause but I hope you understand my concerns. On the bright side, I am more than willing to talk with all of you. Should you have anything you would like to share, be it a question or a story of your own, feel free to leave it in the comments below. I plan to read all of your comments and create posts addressing any questions.
So what exactly will my blog be about? Well, I'm in Puerto Rico to finish my bachelor's degree. Expect to see stories about classes, science labs, and social events. You know, typical college stuff. However, since I still haven't decided how long I will be staying in Puerto Rico, I plan to travel as much as possible. Stay tuned to hear about the fascinating things I find while touring the country from top to bottom. You know, the not-so-typical stuff like waterfalls and rollercoasters. Lastly, as previously mentioned, I will be writing answers to any questions I receive. Please include any suggestions on places or things you would like me to see or do. After all, I want to write the stories you want to read.
With the foundation set, allow me to properly introduce myself. My name is Wolfe Rygaard and I am spending the year in Puerto Rico in hopes of earning my bachelor's degree. There are a couple of reasons why I chose Puerto Rico specifically and I will touch on those real quick. The main reason is that I am Puerto Rican myself. Growing up, my grandmother always told me stories about the beauty of the island. Whenever she returned from her visits, she would bring me and my siblings tons of candy and they never failed to light up my tastebuds. Because of her, I dreamed of going to the island to see its beauty with my own eyes(I also wanted to eat more candy). Unfortunately, the reason why I chose to go to Puerto Rico at this exact moment is a bit depressing. Last year, I lost one of my close friends to suicide. Ever since that day, my mind has been haunted by thoughts about the fragility of life. I lost count of how many times I said "I'll do it tomorrow" or "I'll go there when I'm older". I no longer want to keep taking life for granted and I chose to kickstart my new lifestyle of appreciating life by touching down in Puerto Rico just like I promised my friend I would all those years ago.
Thank you so much for reading my first blog post. If you want to further support me on my journey, you can share this article with your friends and family, or just continue reading my future posts. I truly appreciate each and every one of you and can't wait to read your comments. Until next time.
