The Beginning Of Terror
"In fact, there was fire burning in a fireplace right this very moment. And an armchair was occupied..."
There was something "sitting" by the fireplace. Yes, something, not someone. It's not a person anymore. It's a ghost of the past, one of those who never moved on to the afterlife. Their souls forever bound to the place of their death, roaming aimlessly around many rooms and corridors.
Does it end with only that? Of course not. It would be way too easy, them just wanting not to be disturbed by curious outsiders, left to exist in peace. What a naive way of thinking, one that could cost you your life if you underestimate the power the unknown can have.
Now, what could they possibly want? They are already dead, it's not like they need food, water, clothes, money and so on. That's true, they don't have a need for these things. But what they want is quite simple and sinister at the same time.
The ghost floated a little above the armchair, making it look like it was actually sitting.
It was a ghost of a man. He was wearing a white shirt with a few buttons unbuttoned underneath a dark patterned vest, grey trousers and shoes. Shadows created by the fire made it impossible for his face to be seen clearly.
There were no other ghosts in the room with him, but he appeared unbothered by the lack of an audience. He started speaking, gazing at the dancing flames.
"Finally some peace and quiet. Those pesky people from town are getting more and more insolent by each day. Thinking they can just come here and leave unscathed? How foolish!", he said loudly, anger evident in his deep voice.
His anger could be felt by other ghosts around the manor, in fact it was so powerful that windows shook from the force of it.
As if nothing happened, the man continued.
"But curiosity killed the cat, as the saying goes. We'll see how they'll react when we set our plan in motion. In 30 days, there will be nothing left. Only a ghost town will remain...", the man said chuckling darkly.
How will they manage to do that?
Beware And Fear!
Terror is on the rise,
Wearing no disguise.
Plotting our demise,
It should come as no surprise!
Vengeance on their mind,
There will be nowhere to hide
Once they gain enough power
To leave the walls of the manor!
