The Critique of Genesis
The critique of Genesis.
First of all, we now know a lot of these ideas were originally written by Zoroastrians and Babylonians etc, then altered by the Jews in the 4 to 500s bce toward their god. And so much is wrong and strange. .So let's get started.
"1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. "
Well, where did god live if there was no heaven? And heavens? how many did he create? The bible says one. But Jews say supposedly Supposedly 7. But they are all just different places. The first being the sky we see above us. The second one is where the stars and planets are. Isn't that what we see above us? The third heaven is the home of God and the angels. So where did they exist before he created the third heaven? No where? The fourth, fifth, and sixth heavens are where you go when you die if he lets you. And the seventh heaven is the new heaven and earth that will be created after the current one is destroyed. lol...
But some think this means that god had already created earth, and then the rest of the story is just what he did to it after he made it But Jews tell you no, it just means: In beginning god created heaven and earth, and this how he did it.
"2Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters."
So it was just his idea/plan. Formless and empty means it didn't exist yet. Just like his 7th heaven. It was a plan. And everything was dark and in a dark space. And some Jews say god was over the ocean of heaven, not earth. Which makes more sense than thinking he was above the earth's ocean..
"3And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. "
So he creates light. Ok, from what? No stars yet. So what kind of light? Obviously just an ancient idea How can there be light without a source? Oh, god is the source? Not in this bible. But people claim it. And the Zoroastrians claimed their god Mazda created light and darkness 2000 years before Jews claimed their god did.
"4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. "
Really? lol.. light removes darkness. Darkness is just the absence of light.
"5God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day".
Yeah sure. lol... So your flashlight is day? We came up with night and day because our planet revolves. Day is when we're in front of the sun. Night is when we revolve away from it. But in the bible it says neither. It doesn't see us as a revolving planet. Just a bit of dry land. So what did god call a day and night? There was no sun, no earth, no planet, nothing but water. Did he revolve once he lit up? lol...
"6And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water."
So here he's separating the ocean of heaven with a dome.
7 "So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so. "
Yeah right. He builds a dome to keep the other half of the ocean above us? Well there is no dome and no ocean above us. So how did people come up with that idea? Well, if you study history you find many cultures in different parts of the world thought there was an ocean or water above us due to the sky being blue, and due to rain. So something had to be there to prevent the ocean from falling on us. Something a god could open a bit to cause rain. lol... And if you go to the ocean and look around, when you can't see land anywhere it looks like the sky hits the earth all around, and the sky looks like a dome. It's obvious it was just philosophical idea based on how people interpreted what they saw. Not reality.
"8God called the vault “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day."
So all we can see is the dome? It's the sky. And now another day and night with nothing. lol...
"9And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so."
So here he creates dry ground and separates it from the ocean, but just on one side? Obviously not..
"10God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good."
Yeah, he named them. for who? Himself? In what language? And who heard him say it? We made up words and named things in different cultures and languages. The word land and sea is English, not Hebrew or any other different word from a different language. As long as it means the same you can call it anything. Even were a god to name something no one would know or use the same word. Naming something is just so you can identify it in a conversation so the other person knows what you're talking about without needing to show it to them.
11 "Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so."
So plants were the first things created? No, obviously. lol... According to evolution/science Cells were the first living things. Plants were due to their merger. They are made of living cells like are. And we'll see that the bible says something different later..
12 "The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. "
Yeah. He saw it was good. So he obviously wasn't certain it would be. He does it so often, as we've seen. lol.. And this is an all knowing god? Doesn't look like it. And we'll see so much more evidence that were it to exist, it's not all knowing.
13 "And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.
14And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years,
15and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so.
16God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. . 17God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, 18to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day"
So now there is finally lights. One for day and one for night. Well, the moon is not a light. It just reflects the sun's light. But no one knew that. And all the stars are in the dome? And it is known from other documents that people thought if they could get high enough on a mountain they might be able to touch a star or the top of the dome. So a star is just a little dot of light? How crazy. And the sun is the size of a baseball? Well, we can see why people came up with those ideas. Even in revelation it says stars will fall on earth. lol... Yeah sure. If one even got close earth would be gone. So we know it was all just ideas based on how they interpreted what they saw.
20 "And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.” 21So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teams and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.” 23And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day."
So next he produces animals in water and the sky
24 "And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. 25God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good."
Yeah, he saw poison snakes and bugs etc as good? lol... And unlike plants, these things have to murder each other to live? Yeah sure. How good eh?
26 "Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” 27So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them."
So here it says god created men and woman together in their/our image? I thought there was only one Jewish god. And who is he talking to? Angels? His sons? himself? lol... And later you get a different idea, as we'll get to.
28 "God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” 29Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so. 31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day."
So it seems like here he makes more than one set of humans. And here everything gets to eat plants. So why did animals and even humans eat each other? And we are here to rule all for him. To work for him. So he's telling all humans this. And the earth is so good. But all this changes in part 2.
Part 2
1 " Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made."
A god has to rest? Really? How all powerful, NOT. lol...
4 "These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens, 5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. 6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground."
So now, while he had created plants, they were not on earth yet because god had not let it rain yet. But he just dragged the land out of the ocean. How could it have been dry? And then he sends water up from the ground? It's all so strange and illogical.
7 "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
Oh, this is a different creation story written by the Babylonians centuries before the Jews wrote this. Enlil created us from dust and breathed into us to make us live and be smart. In the previous chapter he created men and woman together. Here he only creates one man?
8 "And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed."
So he created a world with plants but had to create something better? I thought he said he saw it as good. lol...
Recommended
9 "And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil."
So he didn't put plants and trees everywhere yet? And what is a tree of life or knowledge of good and evil? And why would a god create them? I guess we'll see. lol...
10 "And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. 11 The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; 12 And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone. 13 And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia. 14 And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates."
Ok. So we know where it was. lol...
15 "And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:"
So now he's using the guy to work for him. Why? A god couldn't make it so it was always dressed and kept healthy? And this guy knew how do it all after just being created? And all this comes from other earlier religions who claimed we were created to work for the gods. Sumerian Enlil made us to find gold for him. Remember the above where they say: "Havilah, where there is gold" Why did gold matter in the 6000s or earlier BCE? Particularly for just one guy.
17 "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."
Well then, why did he put it there? It's like putting a poison plant in your kid's room and telling him not to eat it or it would kill him. Didn't he know what was going to happen? Some all knowing god. NOT, unless he planned it to torture us. After all, why would he not want us to know about good and evil? It makes no sense. How could we know to be moral? We'll see. lol...
18 "And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make a help mate for him."
Oh, so he's going to make Eve? lol... No.
19 "And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof."
As you see, in the first chapter, humans are made last, after all the animals, fish and birds etc. This is such a different contradictory chapter. Many scholars say it is probably due to other tribes of Israelites had different beliefs, So when Jews created their bibles, they often added other tribes earlier beliefs. And that seems logical considering all this contradictory stuff.
20 "And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found a help mate for him."
Yeah. What a surprise. He couldn't find a wife among all the animals? lol... What a joke. He was supposed to have sex with a sheep? And why did god not make him a human wife? Well, this may surprise you, but in the book of Enoch we're told in heaven there are no females. Heaven was so good angels didn't need females. And they didn't have kids. Yet some angels did come to earth and had sex with females. lol... But that's part of another story here. Point being, this seems like god thought Adam wouldn't need a female. Life would be great here. That's probably where this version comes from. Yet in the last chapter. it says men and woman were created at the same time to fill the earth with humans. So obviously these are two different beliefs as one. lol...
And have you heard of Lilith? Adam's first wife. Yeah. From some who believed chapter one. lol... Lilith supposedly was mad at Adam because he wouldn’t let her be on top of him during sex. And he kept telling her what to do. So they had fights. God came and told her she had to listen to and do whatever Adam said. She belonged to him. Then god left. She was so pissed off, She yelled at god, told him she wouldn't let Adam own her, and used god’s real name in the process, which according to Jews, no one is allowed to say or even know.
So because she used his real name, she was thrown into a bunch of demons who raped her. She had 100 demon children. But angels came and killed them. So she is why kids die at birth or before according to Enoch. lol… She kills them. And for centuries when pregnant, you had to have a certain amulet that prevented her from doing it.
It’s not in the current bible except the part where he created both male and female humans together in his image, which gives the idea of a first wife. And many Jews and others used that Amulet for centuries to protect against Lilith. But Enoch wrote the story in detail. And again, many scholars said the reason for two creation myths was due to earlier contradictory Israelite beliefs before the Jews.. And Lilith is also mentioned in Babylonian stories, by the way. lol....
21 "And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;" 22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man."
Well, in the Sumerian religion A female god called Ninhursag uses a rib to create a child/goddess called Ninti . She feeds it to her husband Enlil/the god of earth, to cure his ribs. lol... But some say the Hebrew word is translated wrong and means side, not rib. But whatever. Why did god not just create her? Why make her from Adam?
23 "And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man."
So god makes her from Adam for Adam. so he owns her. And Christians and Jews and Muslims often claim god made Adam in his image. Not Eve. Obviously it was a way to make men superior to woman. Hence why their god and most were men. And it's even more obvious as we go on.
24 "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. 25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not
ashamed."
And why would they be ashamed? They were alone. All animals are naked. It's obviously just due to cultural ideas. Men not wanting other men looking at their naked wives. lol... Even Muslim woman can't show their hair. But who's ashamed to be with their naked husband and wife? No one. So why should they have been?
Part 3
1 "Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."
Now some say the snake was a devil. But it doesn't say that here. And the snake was right. They didn't die. God lied. And it gave them a higher consciousness and understanding of good and evil.
6 "And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. 7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons."
See? She was looking for more awareness and knowledge. How could that be an evil thing to do? But then we get back to seeing themselves naked and thinking it bad. Sounds like they didn't get enough knowledge. lol... But again, it's only an idea made up when we had cultures and it was wrong to be naked in public. It still is, unfortunately. lol... And they made aprons? So they weren't naked anymore, right?
8 "And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. 9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?"
What? An all knowing god didn't know where they were or what they had done? Doesn't sound all knowing to me. lol...
10 "And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. 11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? 12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat."
So now he's blaming Eve. Why? He didn't know it was wrong to eat the grapes even though god told him? She gave him no choice? Well how could they know it was wrong till they knew good and evil? It's crazy. The entire story makes no sense..
13 "And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. 14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:"
Cursed above cattle? What did they ever do to him? When did he curse the animals and why? Nothing said here about it. And again, it makes no sense. And in other versions it says god took away his legs. lol... And back in those days snakes were seen as very smart. We don't eat dust. lol...
15 "And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."
Oh, this is why people are afraid of snakes? lol... Yeah sure. And snakes are scared of us?
16 "Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee."
So that's why giving birth can cause pain etc? Obviously an excuse/wild guess for the facts of life. And again, he tells her Adam owns her. See? It's all about men owning women.
17 "And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; 18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; 19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return."
Nice god. Not. So this is the excuse/guess for why we die. And bread was not invented for centuries. No way We didn't even farm till after the ice age. Adam or Eve would not have known how to make it or even what it was. . And here we're dust again. Just like the Babylonians thought.
20 "And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living. 21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them."
So god makes clothes for them? They couldn't do it themselves? They already had. And why? Were they cold? They were still alone and god had made them naked and seen them naked all the time. So why did they feel it was wrong? They wouldn't have.
22 "And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever:"
So now we were gods? Like one of them? Again, who is this only god talking to saying now he's one of us? Angels? So they are gods too? lol... Well yes they are/were. All religions there believed in many gods. They were seen as immortal/divine super humans. But all of them had one ruler/lord god. The others just worked for him. In the 2000s bce Zoroaster created the god Mazda, and said he was the only god, now, only meaning ruler. And he called the rest angels, meaning messengers/workers. And that was then the first supposed single god religion. And that's were Jews got the idea from. So the angels are divine like the god, but not in charge. That's why he keeps saying "like us." So believers still believe in many gods though they don't know it.
And it's too bad the snake didn't tell eve to eat of the tree of life first, or they would have lived for ever, and god couldn't have done anything about it. We'd all be gods? lol... What an idiot Adam was for not eating from the tree of life. And if god didn't want them to do any of this, why put those trees there in the first place? And if you think god is all knowing, then he planned it this way? Why? To make us suffer? It's all so crazy.
23 "Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. 24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life."
Well, then why don't see those things? If we did, it might be evidence for this story. lol... Where is that tree? Unfortunately it doesn't exist, just like the Jewish god doesn't exist.
And it's obvious this is all to make men own women. And for centuries they weren't allowed to work, or own anything or talk in churches or even read the bible. Now that Christianity lost power, we gave women equal rights in the west.
And woman were considered evil by religion due to Eve. Yeah, Adam had nothing to do with it. Sure. But he was with her when she found the tree and ate it, and he ate it too. So both were equally responsible. And we have original sin though we had nothing to do with it? Yet in other parts of this bible it says we are not responsible for what our father does that's a sin.
It's all so absurd and contradictory. I will end this here for now. But I will be writing a book including everything the bible says, and why it's all so absurd.
