Your Spiritual Credit Report

Financial Credit Report

Most people know how important it is to have a good credit report with a decent score. Having a good credit report certainly does help when a consumer wants a bank loan and tries to purchase a house, a car or rent an apartment.

Lenders want to know how good your credit is. Therefore, they check your credit report. Companies believe they can get a good idea of who you are by seeing your financial records. Some employers won't hire you if you do not have a high credit score. That's ironic because you want a job so you can pay your bills to raise your credit score.

Your score report shows a list of your creditors, how much you owe them and if you pay your bills on time. You can get approved or denied for major purchases and services if your credit report is not satisfactory because you might be seen as a credit risk.

That's the way it is when it comes to your credit report based on your finances. What about your spiritual credit report?

Spiritual Credit Report

Everyone has a spiritual credit report that has nothing to do with their finances. A spiritual credit report has nothing to do with the amount of money you make, how you spend it, or how much you have in the bank.

Your spiritual report is based on your faith in God and your service in the Kingdom of God. Throughout the Bible, God talks about faith being credited to some people and the reason for that description.

According to Hebrews 11:6, it is impossible to raise your spiritual credit score and please God without faith.

Read through the list and see how your spiritual credit report compares to those in the Bible. Steps are suggested for your spiritual credit score to be improved.

A List of Spiritual Credit Reports

A list of spiritual credit reports is found in Hebrews 11. Some call it the Roll Call of Faith.

The list is in order of people as they appear in Genesis, the Book of Beginnings to the end of the Old Testament, and as they are listed in Hebrews 11, the faith chapter.

Abraham's Spiritual Credit Report

Abraham is mentioned briefly in the table above. Since he was the "Father of Many Nations," a bit more information should be said about him because he is our example of faith. Abraham's faith was credited to him as righteousness, according to Galatians 3:6. Therefore, our faith can be just as strong as his. What was written on his spiritual credit report can also be written on ours.

The words "it was credited to him" were written to describe Abraham who trusted God to get out of his country not knowing where he was going. Abraham went and God showed him on the way where to go. The Bible says Abraham's faith was credited to him as righteousness. In other words, Abraham had a very good spiritual credit report with a very high score.

What was written about Abraham wasn't recorded for his sake alone, but for ours as well (Romans 4:23-24).

Your Spiritual Credit Report

God is not going to ask you to build an ark because Noah already did that. God is not going to ask you to deliver the Hebrews slaves out of Egypt because Moses already did that. However, there are some things that God still wants you to do that will raise your credit score. How are doing in the following areas?

  • Reading the Bible
  • Praying
  • Praise
  • Worshiping
  • Meditating
  • Journaling
  • Singing
  • Dancing
  • Loving Others
  • Giving
  • Forgiving
  • Evangelizing
  • Serving in the Kingdom of God
