There is much controversy today regarding the use of "crystals" for healing. Many Christians say that this is the occult and satanic and for some this may be true. Let's take a balanced Biblical look at the situation. The very first scripture in the Bible is Genesis 1:1 which says: In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. Satan cannot create so if there are properties in the precious stones of the earth, then the Creator put them there and man discovered this treasure. The Bible tells us that God said all He created is good. This remains true even when people misuse His treasures for the wrong purpose. People have long utilized copper and pennies made from the metal to reduce pain but no one ever says that to do so is witchcraft. There are other precious metals within the earth that benefit mankind and one of them is lapis lazuli., which is mentioned in scripture as a gemstone. According to Nammu.com the gem that thousands of years ago was considered to be a sapphire is what today is referred to as "lapis lazuli. Both are blue in hue but the lapis is sprinkled with pyrites that shine and give the appearance of a "dew of gold. The stone today known as the blue corundum variety sapphire is not the same as lapis lazuli..
In Exodus 28:18 the breastplate of the high priest was encrusted with 12 precious stones. The center gem in the second row is lapis lazuli. There have also been stories over the centuries that King Solomon possessed a gold ring made with a lapis lazuli stone that he used to subdue demons. This jewel is mentioned in the animated television show Steven Universe where it is used in magic rituals. There are those who say incantations and utilize the moon in an attempt to harness the power of this stone. Just because others misuse it, does not dictate that His children cannot benefit from the reason it was put on the earth. Too often believers in Christ throw out the baby with the bathwater rather than obtain an understanding in a matter. Lapis lazuli is a beautiful stone to behold and if you find that it does help your mind and or your mind and body to heal that is an additional benefit.
Benefits of lapis lazuli
Lapis lazuli is a rich deep-blue metamorphic rock that is used as a semi-precious stone. It has been highly valued for its intense color since the days of antiquity. Some say it is the hue of the throne of heaven while others compare it to the vast blue of the sea. This stone hails from Afghanistan and was being mined in Badakhshan and Shrtugai as early as the 7th Century BC. It has also been found in mines in the Andes mountains, west of Lake Baikal in Russia, and in Chile. Small quantities of this precious treasure are mined in the United States, Pakistan, Italy, Canada, and Mongolia. There are reports that this stone can heal sickness, reduce stress and heal those who have experienced a traumatic brain injury.
Obtaining understanding is key
The Lord saw fit to put these items on the earth and those who love Him should not allow people who misuse His creation to bring about a spirit of fear and misunderstanding. Think about the many Christians who wear rings, necklaces, and bracelets with other stones such as diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires etc., and think nothing about it. Consider the birthstones for the 12 months of the year. Exodus 28:18 describes the armor of the high priest and the middle jewel in the second row is referred to as “Sappiyr” (Hebrew), according to Strong's concordance #H5601. This is translated by Strong as “Sapphire”, but according to Nammu.com there are other versions of scripture, (the BDB lexicon is one) that indicate that this may also be translated as lapis lazuli. The. NTV calls this gem “blue lapis lazuli”, Keeping this in mind, according to the books of Judaism, the Mishnah the Talmud and Mishnah teaches that the 10 commandments were written on stone tablets that were made from the sapphire that translates as lapis lazuli. This gemstone was also utilized by royalty in days gone by because o it's beauty and the expense of owning it. Perhaps this is why the color is considered to be royal blue. Today anyone can purchase various pieces of jewelry made with this Biblical treasure.
