Choose Not to Be Out of Focus

There are so many things that can distract us especially if we are people who are easy to become out of focus. The good thing is, even if there are people who easily get distracted, there are tips that we can apply to ourselves to improve. It could be hard at first but as we practice it and train our minds, we can have the victory to not be out of focus.

Sometimes, we only need to know first where should we align our focus. I know there are so many things that we need to do every day and sometimes it makes us worry if we have so much on our plate like we already get to the point that we don't know which one to accomplish first.

Remember, if we know where to align our focus first, everything will follow. You will become worried less, hopeful and you will learn to look only at the brighter side even in your darkest hour. Darkness and light cannot co-exist, so you should choose the light coming from above as a sign of hope.

Aligning our focus with God's word is the best thing to do. In God's presence, we will be cleansed from our sins, we will repent from what we have done wrong and we will lean on Him and not with our understanding because when we read God's word, it will make us do these things through the Holy Spirit and the grace of God. Believe that everything can be done and possible if we keep our eyes fixed on the light above.

Tips on how to set your mind on things above

Let us not linger on our old habits when refocusing our eyes on Christ because that was when we were unbelievers. The clear instructions from the Bible, let the power of the Holy Spirit step into our lives as Christians and throw away all the things that hinder us from setting our minds on things above.

1. Avoid earthly things

While we are still here on earth, this will be hard to avoid especially if a particular thing gives us little satisfaction and enjoyment. But remember, those can only give you temporary happiness. So even if these things are hard to avoid, know that the grace of God will always be our rescue to do it and with the help of the Holy Spirit who will lead us to the right path. So pray and ask God for his grace.

2. Choose your new self

When we are born again, every bad habit that we have done in the past will be washed away because we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Since we have chosen to become His follower, we will become a new version of ourselves. Choose your new self and never go back from who you were and from what you have done in the past. God will never give up on you, He will choose you over and over again because He loves you.

3. We should have peace in our hearts from Christ

The peace that we ever need can only be given by Christ. This peace cannot be found in all earthly things because those things can be used as a trap by the enemy and that's why we should not lean on those things and only on the word of God. With the things going on around us, it is very hard to find peace. So when you are having so much stress and worried about some things, find and ask for peace from our Lord.

4. Dwell in the word of God

When we are in the middle of something we can't go away from, we should know where to go and what to do, and who to call because, in these times like this, we should prioritize the word of God. The enemy has a lot of traps along the way and they are everywhere. So if we are not careful about what we are looking at, listening to, or talking to, we can be easily deceived by the enemy. So in order for us to be protected and will not be enticed by earthly things, we should read the word every day. From morning to evening before you go to bed. The word of God is very powerful. It can change a lot of people's lives.

5. Thank our God

God is the Father we have who only knows the best for us, who knows what is going to be harmful to us and who can protect us. He can sustain us, He can provide for us, He can heal us, He can give us the grace that we need in every day lives. So that simple "thank you" He really deserves it because He never stops protecting us and watching over us. Remember, Gor is love. He deserves all the praises and glory with all the blessing He gives us every day.

Staying Focused on God

When we are focused on God, we will never be shaken even if there is a huge wave that can destroy us. So long as we have the word of God in our hearts, we can overcome the trials in life.

Here are the steps to stay focused on God:

1. Start your day with God

Starting your day with God is when we also thank Him for giving us another day to live and face the next chapter of our lives or by having a new strength to face trials. Giving thanks in the morning even if you are drinking coffee, will be a good start because it will give you a positive outlook even if you are not facing hardship yet in your life. The word of God is not just being read when we only feel like doing it. Reading the word of God should be done daily, not because we need to do it, but because we are delighted and hungry for His word.

2. Keep praying

Nothing is ever more powerful than a prayer. You know that a simple prayer can change people's lives and can move mountains. Sometimes we come to a point where we are lacking something, I hope that when you pray, it will give you hope that whatever you need will be given to you by God, just pray and pray. Keep praying because God loves to hear our prayers. The more we pray, the more God is happy about it because He will see that we need more of Him than all the early things.

3. Stay away from distractions

Sometimes, the more we get to enjoy something the more we don't notice that it is a distraction. When we enjoy something, our eyes become blinded by it, because its target is our emotions. Once we are already hooked by it, like feeling happy and contented and getting sad without it. This could be a trap by the enemy. Remember, the enemy's targets are our minds and emotions. That's why your emotions can never be your basis when making a decision. Just because you are happy about it a the moment, doesn't mean it will give you everlasting happiness. Be careful because it can only give you that joy for a moment that suddenly your peace is gone without you noticing it because it has been taken from you by the enemy until you become confused and have no more clarity in your head. That's how the enemy creates a distraction. He will only entice us until gave in to his temptations. That's why we need something to hold on to and that is the word of God to be lead on the right thing to do.

4. Serve our God

When we serve God, it gives Him glory. It is not being required by our God to serve Him but it is an action that we do coming from our hearts. The Holy Spirit is also leading us to the right thing and one of these things is serving God. Aside from reading the word, and praying every day, we also serve God not because we need to but because it is what our hearts are saying. When God renews our hearts after accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior, our hearts that were renewed by God, and our character that was molded by God, are one of the things that have dom for us until the grace of God will also work in us.

5. Choose to remove the sins from your life

The world that we are living in is a sinful world, let us accept the fact that we are sinners and that will never stop until we are here on earth. The more we keep our sins and not repenting to our God, the more we become sinful every day. But when we repent, God forgives us and He washes away our sins. He knows that while we are here on earth, we are going to do sinful actions, but with His grace and the Holy Spirit, we will be led to righteousness. Never choose to commit sin over and over again. I know it is hard but when we pray and check our hearts about our motives, we will be saved right away before we sin. Because again, Jesus is Savior, He will never let anyone become a slave of the enemy by doing sins.

Bible Verses

John 15:5-7

"Whoever abides in me and I in him, he is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you."

Colossians 3:5-8

"Put to death, therefore, the components of your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience. When you lived among them, you also used to walk in these ways. But now you must put aside all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.”

Matthew 6:24

No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
