I Am Praying for You Mama

Ashley is a loving mom and wife who also happens to work full time as a librarian. Most importantly, she puts God before everything.

I am praying for you Mama

As a Christian woman I know that God is going to be right there through the good, bad, and the ugly (and believe me when I say my ugly times were unspeakable). I am also human and have anxiety, depression, body image issues, trust issues, anger problems, and I am a mess in general. What mom doesn't have at least one of those things? We aren't perfect, though social media might make it seem like "Jenny" has it all together and that "Debra" needs to take a step back and breathe. The bible says in 1 John 2:10-11, "He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes." So why do we look down on the "Debra" and envy the "Jenny"? They are both our sisters in Christ.

By now, you may be wondering to yourself what this has to do with praying for mamas so let's just jump right to it. If you love someone as a Christian you pray for them. I pray daily for my children and my family. I also pray for my friends, my church family and the guy that seemed like he was having a bad morning just getting my coffee. But I also pray for mamas. All the mamas. I pray for my sister "Jenny" and love her and her life because she has accomplished that and I am proud for her. I am also there praying when she logs off Facebook and cries quietly because her homelife isn't as perfect as it seems. I pray for my sister "Debra" and love her because we have all had a moment at some point where someone thought, "Good Lord, she is loosing her mind!". I pray for all the mamas because being a mom is hard! I know that I don't really know what I am doing half the time and most other moms don't either. Let's be honest, we are really just making it up as we go.

My house is a mess, I sometimes don't get to take a shower, I don't have time to eat and when I do, I eat way too much! I am NOT PERFECT! No mom is perfect! I will tell you though that my kids are fed, they are clean, they have a warm bed to sleep in at night, and they are happy. Just know that if your kids are fed, happy, and healthy, and you have a roof over their head, then you are doing a good job too Mama. It will be okay and know I am here praying for you mamas.

Let's pray together:

Dear Father,

We thank you for the many blessings that you give us. Thank you for these beautiful children you have blessed us with and for giving us comfort in you. We ask you Lord that you please watch over these babies and their sweet Mama's. Give them patience when the days are not as planned and encouragement for when things seem impossible. I ask you Lord to please help these Mama's with their walk with you as well so that they might become mom prayer warriors and pray for the other "Jenny's" and "Debra's". Help these Mamas to learn how to love their sisters and raise them up so they can in turn walk within the light with you! I love you Lord.

Amen.
