I am a fellow Christian who believes that God alone is the source of all things good (James 1:17).

Inspirational Bible verses

The Bible is the Word of God. It has the power to transform, correct, inspire and uplift. We tap into its power when we feed our minds with the Word of God. May these Bible verses wash over your soul and change your life.

Cast your cares on Him

The first thing that we should do to live a better life is to throw away the things that are holding us back. The good news is that we serve a Mighty God. His hands are strong enough to handle everything that we face. God's hands made everything.

I believe that God waits for us to hand over our issues to Him. Once we do, He shows up in a powerful, awe-inspiring way. Let me no longer serve my worries. I choose to worship God instead.

Come to Me all who are tired and weary and I will give you rest

This is one of my favorite verses of all time. I have noticed that many of the mistakes that I make are because I am seeking rest from my life. My God should be my rest. God offers me what nothing else can offer me. I will never be fully rested until I come to God alone.

I believe that where we go when we need rest determines what we worship. Choose God, and you will be satisfied. Drink of His well and you will never thirst again.

By joyful, give thanks and pray continually

We have every reason to be joyful. We belong to God. God is good. Our lives are taken care of. We have a Good Shepherd that looks after us. God is our portion. Let us rejoice in Him.

We pray continually because we hand everything over to God. We hand over our good things as we pray for protection and blessing. We hand over our bad things because we know that God cares for us.

We are thankful for everything that God does for us. Let no small thing go unnoticed that we are not thankful for. Let us thank God even for the things that we don't like. We thank God that He is in control of everything. We thank God that we can turn to Him and that He never leaves us.

This is the life that God wants us to live.

We are a new creation

What a beautiful thought. The old person has died with Christ on the cross. The new person has risen with Him. I don't need to worry about the old me anymore. Jesus died so that I can be saved. This includes being saved from me! I get excited about discovering the new me that God has created me to be. I learn more and more about this new creation every day.

The more I step into the person that God has purposed me to be, the more alive I become. I can trust the Holy Spirit to make me new every day.

The fruit of the Spirit

I am so thankful to God that my life becomes more fruitful as I get closer to Him. Every time I give myself over to God, I bear more of God's fruit. This fruit is pleasing to God, myself and those around me.

This fruit is a clear indication of how close we are to God. When I need to showcase one of these fruit, I can rely on the Holy Spirit to bring them forth in me.

My strength comes from God

We can rely on God for all the strength that we need. We don't need to rely on other things - God is enough. We can trust God to show up whenever we need Him. There is nothing more powerful than someone who completely relies on God.

When God is our source of strength, everything comes together.

Let us love one another above all

If there is one thing that should separate a believer from an unbeliever, it should be love; because we have God and God is love. Let us love every person that we meet in the same way that God loved us. God loved us no matter what kind of mess we made of ourselves. Let's do the same for others. The power of our testimony is love.

Since God loves every person that He created, let us love them in the same way that God does. We might be the only way that God gets to show His love to them.

The Lord gave me strength

I absolutely love this verse. It makes me think back on the times where I had nothing but God. God showed up in ways that I can never explain. God will always be there for you when you need Him. This verse makes me think about the times when I discovered just how much God has done for me in my own life. This verse reminds me to be thankful for what God has already done for me - especially in hard times.

Listen to the rebuke of the wise

This is so important. Many of us (me included) let our pride get in the way of good advice. Humility allows us hear words that we might need to hear. God might convey an important message to us through someone else, but we reject it because we don't like it or we feel attacked.

The Bible is full of stories about people who were rebuked by wise people. The righteous ones took these words to heart. Wrong-doers rejected these words because they thought that they knew better.

This didn't only happen in the Old Testament through prophets to kings. We see Jesus rebuking many people. We read about Paul, John and James rebuking churches when they needed to. Don't harden your heart to good advice.

Be slow to anger

This may be a process that you need to go through, but learn to control your temper. Don't let your emotions control you. It is too easy to let anger make you say or do things that you later regret. It is a lot harder to live a life of love when anger takes us hostage.

Learn to discard your anger in smaller situations, like during traffic. This will help you to control your anger in larger situations. We need to learn to treat people with the same level of patience that God has with us.

For I know the plans that I have for you

God's plans for us are good. That is why we can trust Him. This is why we can be confident in doing things His way and placing things in His hands. We have confidence that God wants the best for us. God knows what is best for us, even when we don't see it for ourselves. Knowing that God has planned the best for us helps us to have faith in God's ways above our own.

Choose faith over riches

Notice how the desire to money leads to punishment, but being faithful leads to blessing. The difference lies in our heart. It lies in who or what we choose to serve. Our lives are governed by who we choose as the god of our lives. When we choose God, we allow God to control our lives. God is better able to bless us than we will ever be on our own.

What you speak determines what you eat

This inspirational Bible verse reminds me to look at how I speak during my day-to-day life. Did you know that your entire life is a summary of all the keywords that you use on a daily basis?

Examine the words that you use when you speak to others. Now look at the words you use when you speak to yourself in your head. May we speak the same words over ourselves that God speaks over us. May we speak the same words over others that God speaks over them.

Talk less, listen more

The first time that I read this verse, I thought of a few people who needed to hear it. I wanted to send it to them so that it could help them change. I then realized that I had the very problem that this verse wants to address. It is so easy to correct others - especially when we are the ones that need to be corrected.

If you examine a conversation, you will often find that the person who does the least amount of talking is usually the most influential. People need listeners a lot more than talkers.

All things work together for the good of God's people

I don't need to worry about where my life is headed. As long as my life is aimed at loving God and doing His work, it is going in the right direction. It is natural to want to take stock of your life and reassess whether you are on track. It is also natural to worry about whether you've come far enough in a particular amount of time. When we belong to God, we can place these things in His hands.

My life does not belong to me anymore. As long as I am with God, I don't need to hold myself accountable for successes or failures. I only need to make sure that I remain submitted to God's will.
