What Is Waiting?

Waiting can be so frustrating especially if you have no idea when you will see or get the things you have been waiting for. There are times when we are waiting, we make a lot of complaints, we become impatient, we stop trusting, or worse, we walk away and leave it behind or turn our backs because we don't want to wait any longer. I know it is hard to wait for something in a place full of uncertainties. Indeed, this is really a tough situation.

What do you do while you are waiting? Are you the type of person who easily gets bored? Do you go anywhere else and then get back when it's your turn? Are you patient or impatient while waiting? and the last question is, why do you wait? These questions are easy to answer but a hard situation to be in.

Tough season? Yes, I know. Waiting will never be easy even if you are a patient person. Waiting can mold us into something that we thought we are not. There are a lot of teachings in your waiting season, this is not a season where you just wait for nothing. You are waiting for something and all you need to do is to trust the process even if you don't see it. After all, you will not go home empty-handed because God will give you more than what you have waited for.

Is It Good to Wait?

Answering the question "Why do we wait?" can be easier than we thought because all we know is there is something lacking in us, there is a gap, we do not have everything and we are hungry to get that something to fill in the gap or that need. Whether we are waiting for something that really matters to us, or not, let's not forget that it will never come in an instant. Have we ever thought of the "deeper why" of why we wait? I guess some of us waiting for material things, job promotions, to pass the board exam or graduate from school, loan approval from the bank, a good spouse, or a family to come back home, and a lot more.

Those are some of the reasons or answers to why we wait but we have never thought about the importance of what we are waiting for, what will happen once we have it already and what this "waiting" do to us, and why this need to go on a very long process? Are your prayers been answered already? or are you still in your waiting season? Wherever you at right now, know that God never stops working.

Here's why waiting is good:

  • It makes us obey God to wait for what He promised to us
  • It increases our patience
  • It lets you slow down to cherish every moment
  • We get to trust God even more instead of relying on our own ways
  • It makes us believe that there is a miracle in waiting
  • It makes us appreciate other things going on in the middle of our waiting season
  • It makes us not lean on our own understanding
  • We get to pray to God even more
  • It makes us hopeful because we are trusting a faithful God
  • We become excited to testify that God is a Promise Keeper

I hope these things will open our eyes to see the beauty of our waiting season.

Waiting Is Trusting

We all have prayers every day because we all have needs and wants and let's accept the fact that we do not have everything in this world that's why we need the Provider and that is God. Our needs and wants are just there, but they will come in God's perfect time. If we force ourselves to make it happen by using our own ways, that could end up worse because it is not our job to do in the first place.

I know when we wait it is going to be boring, but that only happens if we are not enjoying the waiting season. There is so much more to do while you are waiting.

Here are some of the things that you can discover while in the middle of waiting:

  • You can discover other skills or talents by taking time to practice like playing the guitar
  • You can spend more time with your family which you haven't done again after a few years
  • You can gain more friends by attending church service
  • You can be with God during your quiet time
  • You will see self-improvements such as being patient, disciplined, learned to trust even more

We may not see what God is doing but that should not stop us from trusting Him. At the end of the day, if we are really after the miracles and not the things done by wicked ways, then we should choose to wait and trust. Live by faith and not by sight.
