Honouring Jesus, The Christ. Thursday's Homily For the Devout 11
Poem from the Master
O SUFFERING CHRIST
“O suffering Christ,
My heart of love
Suffers with you and for you.
O forgiving Christ,
My love of life
Enjoys with you and for you.
O illumining Christ,
My life of love
Is for you, only for you.”
– Sri Chinmoy
Wise quotations from the Masters
"There's no fear in Love, but perfect Love casteth out fear." 1John, 4:18
"He who loves, never grows old. God is a shining example." -Sri Chinmoy
"He that loveth not, knoweth not God, for God is Love." 1John, 4:8 KJV
"There is only one thing that is, was and ever shall be, and that is Love. The Love that creates, the Love that nourishes and the Love that sustains God's universe." -Sri Chinmoy
Jesus, the Christ, was born of Mary, some 2000 years ago. She was purity immaculate, and her husband Joseph, a very devout soul. Jesus did some miracles in his early life and became one of the world's most loved Divine Incarnations. (The descent of God in human form)
The Christ was a powerful and reverential speaker, who was filled with compassion for all, including the sick or those afficted with various ailments and handicaps. He was crucified by those who were ignorant and not receptive to his teachings. Others felt that he was becoming too influential and usurping their stranglehold on power.
This was not His purpose, as he spoke of another Kingdom, not of this world, but within... a Kingdom of Heaven full of everlasting Bliss. He also - like any scripture - spoke of recommendations to follow, to arrive at that Kingdom: Prayer, selflessness, forgiveness, mercy and a host of others, with Love being the key and longing the arms of the key: Seek … knock, etc.
Words of God-souls do not die and the Christ is very alive today, especially so at Christmas, as he ever was. "For lo, I'm with you always, even unto the end of time." Christ.
The Sri Chinmoy Centre celebrates the birth of Christ every Christmas, as a mark of respect for His Love and concern for humanity, compassion, divine authority, complete surrender to the Will of His Father and many other Divine qualities.
"We meditate on the Christ.
We repeat His name countless times.
Without the Christ-Consciousness,
Our life is totally lost.
Christ is for all.
He is our divinity's Son,
And humanity's Father." - Sri Chinmoy
"Jesus, Jesus, O Jesus!
You are heaven's dearest Child,
For the upliftment and enlightenment
Of the whole world,
You sleeplessly remain awake." - Sri Chinmoy
"O Saviour dear, you are so near.
Lover kind, bind my Heart bind.
O Father pure, I am all yours sure." -Sri Chinmoy
All quotes of Sri Chinmoy so far are songs and most were dedicated to the Christ. The Sri Chinmoy Centre singers, especially Mountain Silence and Ananda, travel throughout the world, singing Guruji's Christ-Songs in churches and cathedrals. Happy Birthday Christ, Our Lord.
Some lofty and immortal words by the Christ
"Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do."
"I and my Father are one."
"The Kingdom of Heaven is within you."
"Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy."
"Blessed are the pure in Heart, for they shall see God."
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God."
Mere Prabhu (My Sweet Lord)
Mere Prabhu, my Christ, my Lord,
Why should I worry about hunger,
When Your Love feeds my Soul?
A full stomach is soon emptied,
But a Heart of gratitude endures,
Even unto everlasting life.
Mere Prabhu, my Christ, my life.
I could have slept forever.
But You came to me in the early hours
Of the dawn, and sanctified my life.
O Light of forgiveness, each moment,
Like a river of diamond rain,
You wash my muddy banks.
Thus my acquired sediments are removed,
From the heat of daily strife.
Mere Prabhu, sweet Jesus, my Light,
I saw Your suffering face,
I cried and cried. I felt Your forgiving Heart,
I danced … and danced.

Contrasts of chill, Christmas tidings and joy,
Snowballs and mistletoe, reindeers and sleigh.
Magi’s on camels; to thwart Herod’s ploy,
Mary’s child to destroy; now on his way.
Jesus, the Christ, in a stable was born,
Bright stars pointed East and Bethlehem sung,
Lowly and simple; a babe to adorn,
Sending us Santa while Christmas bells rung.
Merriment and cheer; the talk of the town,
Carols a plenty, lights sparkle and shine.
Turkeys and puddings, in plenty abound,
Season of good will, of course there is wine!
Cathedrals speak of the Spirit of Christ,
There’re gifts for our children; friends old and new.
Families gather at tables so nice!
Chats are a plenty; intoxicants too.
Three cheers for a time of friendship and peace,
A day of good will and tempor’ry bliss.

Sacrifices. An acrostic poem

C hrist’s immortal words of Love,

I s it really such a task,
