How Do I Find The Light and Stay In It?
Finding The Light and Staying In It
This week's study will cover scripture that shows us how to find the light and live within it. Think of an oasis. This is God's plan for us. To live in an oasis in heaven.
In order to live forever in paradise, we must first find the light and live in it. God knows that we aren't perfect, but if we do our best to stay true to Him, He has prepared a big house for us with many rooms, "In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you." (John 14:2)
Today we will explore answers to these questions through scripture:
How do I find the light?
How do I live by light?
How do I prevent myself from straying from the light?
As always, begin this reading with prayer. Pray for an open heart and mind so that you can hear the message that God has in store just for you.
Make sure you have a notebook or note-taking app open. You never know when God might speak to you.
Try to study in a quiet place. It is easier to tune out the business of life if it isn't filling your ears.
Take a deep breath.
Here we go!
“Give light, and the darkness will disappear of itself.”
— Desiderius Erasmus
How Do I Find The Light?
We discussed both light and darkness during the last two weeks (see the links at the bottom of the page for links). Now, how do we find the light? As humans with sinful nature, we feel an emptiness inside. This emptiness is there because back in the Garden of Eden, we walked with God. Now, we must walk with Him a different way. Until you do, there will always be that emptiness, like something is missing.
How do we fill that void?
Let's see what God has to say concerning this question.
The Light Is Jesus- We Must Follow Him
If we follow Jesus with our whole hearts and minds, then that emptiness will disappear. You see, God WANTS to walk with us. That's why He sent His son Jesus. While He was here, Jesus walked with us in the flesh. He did this so that someday, we can walk with God in heaven. How amazing! What love. Even though we were given a chance to follow Him in the garden, He has given us a chance to walk with Him again.
How do I live by light?
Living by light is harder than it seems. Think about all of the habits we have that around fear. Many people plan ahead with their funds, keep guns in their houses, store up food, and forget to give to those in need. God wants us to live one day at a time- without fear. That doesn't mean we can't save and plan ahead. It just means that we shouldn't do it with a fearful spirit.
Jesus Christ says in Matthew 6:25-34 (ESV):
Do Not Be Anxious
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? 28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, 29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. 34 “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
You see, one of the habits that He wants us to break involves anxiety.
Pray: Lord please release my anxiety so that I may remain in your light. Help me to stay in the shadow of your wing. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Let's explore some more scripture about remaining in His light.
How Do I Prevent Straying From The Light?
As soon as you have claimed Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you are in His flock. If you go astray, He will search you out and find you. Even more important is your willingness to go back to the light. Sometimes Satan tries to get ahold of us. He is the "bad guy" who doesn't want us to succeed in eternal life. He knows he has already lost, so why not drag all of us to hell with him?
Staying in the light is quite simple: We must remain loyal to God and recognize when we have strayed too far away from the flock.
Scripture has a lot to say about remaining in His light:
He Gives Us a Home
His light gives us protection, a home, and a full heart. We are so blessed to have a loving God and not a vengeful one.
Think about how these words impact you. How do you feel, know that you are protected by God's wings? I mean, how amazing! His wings may as well be armor. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, and all loving.
How can you represent and reflect these traits in your everyday life?
We pour out His light. How can we share it and show the world His goodness?
It could be as little as praying for someone who needs guidance, helping a friend in need, or donating to the food bank.
Reflect on these things and pray.
Here are a few last verses to reflect on:

This is part two of,”Lost in The Darkness”, a bible study that aids gods children in their quest for finding the light and sticking to it. Part two covers questions such as what is light and what is darkness according to Scripture.
- Bible Study: Lost In The Darkness Part 1 of 4
Feel like you're stuck in the darkness? Or surrounded by negativity? Today, Satan has gained more ways to blot out the light. Whether it's through addiction, greed, pride, lust, etc, he strives to destroy our livelihoods and relationship with Him. Ne
