Amidst The Panic

Five months deep in the quarantine game, even though the majority of us already went back to our jobs and carried on as if nothing happened, some are still quarantined in the four corners of their homes and still worried about the global pandemic that is COVID-19. Although totally understandable, we can be rest assured that there is a God that watches over us, protects us daily, and provides for us. His promises can be read on the most valuable book in the whole earth, the Bible. And I have compiled some of my favorite verses that have helped me survive this global crisis. It can help you too!

To God be all the glory!

JOHN 16:33

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

This is my go-to bible verse whenever I am downhearted. This is just one of God's many promises to us, His promise to never leave us, always be there for us and guide us every day. I always find comfort knowing that He has OVERCOME THE WORLD. I hope you do too. Whatever it is that you are going through right now, or whatever is bothering you, He has already overcome that.

ISAIAH 41:10

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Need I explain it more? This verse is as clear as it gets. The Lord tells us NOT TO FEAR. What can be simpler than that? Human reasoning tells you that's not that easy, that life is complicated. If you think that way, JOHN 16:33.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

I could've just easily picked a specific verse in this chapter but for me, the whole chapter describes God's kindness and mercy for us. We are reminded of God's unfathomable love for us. Even in the presence of our enemies, He especially is with us and will never leave our side.

ROMANS 8:38-39

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING can separate us from God's love for us. Not fear, not shame, not guilt, not our past, not our sins, not our failures, and certainly not even the enemy can ever separate us from Him. That's how much He loves us.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

This verse gives me a sense of confidence, confidence to face the unknown because I serve a God who has plans for me and will keep me safe. I used to overthink when life throws something at me and then it eats me up until I imagine scenarios that will most likely never happen. But when I let God direct my steps and I surrendered every plan to Him, everything fell into place just like He planned it. And I have never been happier. I think its time for you to be happy too.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

To quote Matthew West, "Anyone in Christ is now a new creation, every day you're closer to the you He's making, so take one last look back and see your past erased and you're not who you were, that's over and done, so lift up your eyes to the One"

When you accept Him as your Lord and Savior, you leave behind your past life, the old you. Your sins are forgiven and you are a new creation! So there is no more condemnation. You are God's child, never let the enemy tell you otherwise.

I hope that my list of verses somehow gave you hope and assurance of God's promises to you. Surely it did for me. Always remember that you are loved and valued in the eyes of your Father. It will always be that way. Thank you for taking time to read my testimony of faith and hope during these trying times.

To God be the glory!
