A Hymn: Lead Me, and Guide Me
Singing and composing hymns and other songs have been part of my life since my teenage days
Composer’s Foreword
I am not good in notes, but from the local church trainings while in choir, I have come around with this hymn using another hymn. If you know the hymn beneath, then you can join me to sing this song unto the Lord.
Simply Trusting Everyday
The Composed Song
1. Hearken Thou even ‘to me
And rescue me even right now
Thou art the One that I trust
Oh Thou God of salvation
Refrain/Chorus
Thou art my Rock and fortress
Therefore for your own name sake
Please continue to lead me
And be Thou also my guide
2. Darkness hath covered earth up
It’s empty and without form
But Thou art even the Light
That darkness can’t comprehend
Refrain/Chorus
3. Even in this world of sin
That evil act be multiplied
And that every heart be evil
Only thou canst deliver me
Refrain/Chorus
4. In the midst false brothers
In the midst of false sisters
Those who art ‘magine evil
Only thou canst deliver me
Refrain/Chorus
5. Therefore who can even save
One from wicked mother’ son
That slandereth his own sibling
If not thou my only Rock
Refrain/Chorus
6. In the midst of the hypocrites
And those who are the traitors
Those who surround my abode
Only thou canst deliver me
Refrain/Chorus
7. Oh! Save me lord Oh! Save me
Hand me not over to ‘nemy
I have even run unto thee
Save me Jesus oh my Lord
Refrain/Chorus

Cheryl E Preston thanks ma. Music has over the ages been used for healing. I know you will aptly bring to mind the sickness of King Saul, he was repeatedly healed by the music (instruments) of the Young David (1 Samuel 16).
And over the years it has been recommended by medics, especially the psychologists and psychiatrist.
The ancient fathers of Yoruba land had also encouraged music so well, that is why you will see in Nigeria, most of the musicians are from Yoruba land, because those people know the importance of Music and it has over the years been passed across to us.
It will not therefore surprise you that when Christianity also came into Yoruba land (South West of Nigeria) Music has been the major integral part of our worshiping God and His Jesus.
I also love music, it helps us connect to the Spiritual realm...as it happened during Prophet Elisha's day when he was confronted by three Kings seeking for way our of their logjam (2 King 3).
Thank you ma. I appreciate you comment.
