A Hymn: Jesus Parable on A Certain King Who Demands Accountability

Singing and composing hymns and other songs have been part of my life since my teenage days

Composer’s Foreword

I am not good in notes, but from the local church trainings while in choir, I have come around with this hymn using another hymn. If you know the hymn beneath, then you can join me to sing this song unto the Lord.

The Composed Song

1. Christ’s teaching while on earth

Revolved around mercy

I ‘ll have mercy not sacrifice

So saith the Lord

‘Cause I have not come to

Call those who are righteous

But sinners I have come to call

To repentance

2. Mercy even is likened to

A certain island King

Who also had different servants

Working for him

He traveled to a far land

To take kingdom for himself

And when he returns he would take

Account of his servants

3. When he begins to reckon

One of them was brought to him

Who owed him a lot of money

But can’t pay him

When he cannot pay the King

He ordered him to be sold

His wife and children yea even

All that he had

4. The Servant fell down flat

Even before his lord

Pleaded with him to have mercy

Even on him

I ‘ll repay you back

As long as am alive

Just give me more time to even work

I ‘ll repay you back

5. The lord of the servants

Was moved with compassion

He loosed him and forgave him all

The debts he owed him

He had compassion on him

‘Cause he had a tender heart

The lord of the servants even declare

That he is free

The God of Abraham Praise

6. The same servant went out

Joyously even to the streets

There he found one of his fellow servants

Who also owe him

And took him by the throat

Saying pay me now the money which

Thou owest me

7. The fellow servant fell down

Even flat at his feet

Beseeching him to have mercy

And patience with him

All that I even owe thee

Will I pay back to thee

Only exercise some patience

Even with me

8. But the forgiven servant

Would not listen to him

Instead he had him imprisoned

Till he pays the debt

‘Ven when other servants saw

Everything that has happened

They were upset, reporting the matter

Even to the King

9. Then the lord of the servants

Asks the servant be called

And he was brought ‘ven to him

And then he said

“O thou wicked servant

I forgave you your debts

Because thou pleadest even with me

To have mercy on thee”

10. “Why have ye not mercy

On thy fellowservant

As I had mercy even on thee”

And he couldn’t speak

The king was wroth with him

Revoking his freedom

Delivering him to tormentors

Till he pays him

11. Blessed be the merciful

For they ‘ll obtain mercy

Even from the heavenly Father

Yea the God of love

He promised to have mercy

On whomsoever he wills

And he will have pity upon

Anyone he wills
