A Hymn: It Is Time for Thee, Lord, to Work
Singing and composing hymns and other songs have been part of my life since my teenage days
Composer’s Foreword
I am not good in notes, but from the local church trainings while in choir, I have come around with this hymn using another hymn. If you know the hymn beneath, then you can join me to sing this song unto the Lord.
My Soul Give Praise To The Lord
Note
This is not the tune used for the composition.
The Composed Song
1. Things are not as they ought even to be
And everyone has gone to their own ways
‘Cause judgment ‘re not executed in time
The heart of men ‘re established in evil
Refrain/Chorus
Oh Lord, now is even the time
For thee to do thine own work
‘Cause of many people in the world
For they ‘ve made void even thy own law.
2. When thou oh Lord hath hidden thy face
From my body and even my work
The mouth of my enemies mock me
And they ask where resideth my God
Refrain/Chorus
3. When thou Lord do not arise in time
Several enemies ‘ve surrounded me
And they said that they will conquer me
As they have done for unbelievers
Refrain/Chorus
4. And they are comparing you with idols
That hath eyes but that they cannot see
That hath ears but they can’t even hear
Legs have they but they can’t even walk
Refrain/Chorus
5. And those who I even trusted on
Yea, those people eating bread with me
They are in agreement against me
Their heels have they lifted up against me
Refrain/Chorus
6. Please dear Lord have thou mercy on me
Raise me up from my present position
And by this I will even know that
Thou hath shown thine mercy upon me
Refrain/Chorus
7. Turn for me my mourning into dancing
Thou should even put off my sackcloth
Thou should come and gird me with gladness
That my glory may sing praise to Thee
Refrain/Chorus

Cheryl E Preston Thanks ma. Same here ma, many Youths in the local churches in Nigeria usually start by joining the choir where they will learn albeit "remotely", I mean without knowing the "notes" (like I am) several hymns, through that we used to compose different songs, locally, and I am one out of many of those around here, ILORIN, KWARA STATE NIGERIA.
Choir is always a wonderful place.
Thanks for sharing thine past here with me, ma.
Enjoy yourself there and stay safe.

Thank you for sharing so many hymns. I grew up singing hymns from a big book in church.
