Are you wondering if you are where you should be spiritually? If you are satisfied with where you are right now, then this article might not be for you. If you are not comfortable with the way you are living, then perhaps this article will help you.

Many of us grow weary trying to figure out if we are where we should be. A lot of times, we are where we should be or close to it. However, we are not sure because we often feel ill at ease about many things we encounter.

Below are seven ways to help you determine if you are where you should be in your spiritual development. Then there are recommendations to help you move from where you are to where you should be.

1. Live a Balanced Life

If you are where you should be, then you are enjoying a balanced life. You are calm and grounded in most areas of your life. If you are living a balanced life, you are not overwhelmed when you encounter circumstances beyond your control.

You don't feel that you are being pulled in many directions. There is a saying that "all work and no play makes a person dull and boring." When you live a balanced life, you feel relaxed at work and at play, and you are not described as "dull and boring." However, your life includes a balance of both work and play and both of them are enjoyed.

2. Focus On Faith and Not On Fear

You are where you are supposed to be when your focus is on faith instead of on fear. If you are paralyzed by fear, then you need to change that in order to be where you should be spiritually.

If you are focusing more on external things rather than internal things, then your life is out of balance. You might have concerns about your health, finances, family, relationships, job, and a number of other things. If you try to solve all those issues at once, you might fail at all of them.

Think back over God's track record with you. If He has brought you out of difficult situations before, He is able to do it again. Therefore, focus on your faith and not on your fear. Fear cripples, but faith gives strength.

3. Give Thanks

We should be grateful for what we have left rather than being depressed about what we have lost. Giving God thanks is a sure sign of being spiritually balanced.

When we show gratitude to God in the midst of our problems, we are where we should be spiritually.

4. Have a Teachable Spirit

People who are where they are supposed to be have a teachable spirit and don't mind being corrected. When a person doesn't get angry or feel like he is being judged is a big sign that he is where he should be spiritually.

5. Keep Your Mind On God

A person who is where he is supposed to be will keep his mind stayed on God and not be distracted by the cares of the world. The best way to keep your mind on God and the things of God is to read and study the Bible on a daily basis.

You can meditate and keep a journal to write out your thoughts. One thing for sure is that you can't keep your mind on God and other things at the same time.

6. Trust God

A big sign that you are where you are supposed to be spiritually is when you can trust God. The Bible is quite clear how much God loves us and wants a relationship with us. Therefore, we must trust Him and take Him at His word.

God is true, honest, just and loving. He has our interest in mind. We can trust Him with our whole heart.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

7. Have a Relationship with God

God created us to be in relationship with Him. A sure sign that you are where you are supposed to be spiritually is to have a personal intimate relationship with God.

God is available to us at all times. We can talk to Him through prayer. We can tell Him how much we love Him through worship. We can thank Him, praise Him, and even sing to Him.

Since God is available to us, He wants us to be available to Him.
