Tombstone Sayings, Quotes, and Other Favorite Sayings.

Here are some of the poems, sayings, quotes and tombstone sayings I have seen and love. My favorite is my own to my husband. I'm always being teased by Northerners because of being from the south.

I have been doing genealogy. I found my family and my husband's family and found my family went way back and his didn't get here until about the 1880s.

So one day I said to him.

"My relatives settled this country and yours came over after they knew it was safe." © moonlake

He tried to argue with me about it, but I proved to him he was wrong. We got a good laugh from it.

Prayers to God

"The young woman was at the end of her rope. Seeing no way out, she dropped to her knees in prayer. "Lord, I can't go on," she said. "I have too heavy a cross to bear. "The Lord replied, "My daughter, if you can't bear its weight, just place your cross inside this room. Then, open the other door, and pick out any cross you wish." The woman was filled with relief. "Thank you, Lord," she sighed, and she did as she was told. Upon entering the other door, she saw many crosses, some so large the tops were not visible. Then, she spotted a tiny cross leaning against a far wall. " I'd like this one, Lord," she whispered. And the Lord replied, "My daughter, this is the cross you just brought in."

My Grandmother by her Granddaughter Joan

"Grandma's Tea Rose"

In Grandma's Garden,a long time ago, A sweet smelling tea rose decided to grow She pampered and watered and fertilized and shared: Sometime later when Grandma's time had passed, Her daughter,Gledis, wanted the tea rose to last, She took a cutting to pamper, water, fertilize, and share; The sweet smelling tea rose knew that she cared. Grandma's tea rose continues to grow and to thrive; It helps us remember when Grandma was alive. Dried petals and small clippings we frequently share. Like our love for each other;she taught us to care. There's a pattern for pillows and one special quilt; Grandma's sweet smelling tea rose never shall wilt. Like the sweet smelling tea rose that our Grandma shared; We each felt her love and knew that she cared

Sayings on Tombstones, Headstones, and Gravestones.

We all have different names for stones our loved ones are buried under. Any of the words means their gone forever. Never to be in our life again.

Inscription:
"The golden gates were opened
A gentle voice said come.
And with farewells unspoken
He calmly entered home."

If Memories.

If memories could make a stairway I’d walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

I am not there.

I am not there
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the snow on the mountain's rim,
I am the laughter in children's eyes,
I am the sand at the water's edge,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle Autumn rain,
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight,
I am the star that shines at night,
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.

moonlake,

Gee, I'm almost afraid to comment back... I don't want you to think you owe me a visit every time I stop by :-) I know it's hard keeping up, I get anxious about it myself and worry that people think I'm leaving them hanging. Don't ever worry about me... I take 'em as I get 'em! You're a lady of your word!!! Thanks for stopping by my pages... and I'm looking forward to reading another hub of yours. Have a good evening!

moonlake,

Aw thanks, I'm honored... but I see you around quite a bit as you're quite the famous little hubber :-) Don't knock yourself coming over my way, I'm just an oddball, but you're certainly always welcome and the door is wide open.

I will definitely be checking out more of your hubs though! Thanks!

moonlake,

Oh my goodness, this was sooo much fun to read; I laughed... I cried, then I laughed again! There were so many different sayings throughout that I kept saying "ooh, I've gotta remember that one", but the time I got to the bottom... I forgot most of them; guess I'll have to save this to my favorites! Excellent hub!

Voted up and every other one of those nifty blue buttons!

moonlake,

This was a beautiful hub and I really enjoyed reading it. Some of the inscriptions on the tombstones are really funny. Some of my father's favorite sayings were: "You get too soon old, and yet too late smart," and "A fool and his money are soon parted." I, myself, like the saying, "Beggars can't be choosers." Voted up and sharing with followers.
