Now we are into the deep freeze
Make it warmer pretty please?
The scraping of the ice
Doesn’t feel very nice
I do love all seasons
But today I forgot the reason
The winter winds howl
That sound can be foul
But dress nice and warm
We will weather the storm
And the bright mounds of snow
They kind of have a glow
There is a beauty we see there
But this temperature, not fair!
Yes winter can be rough
But us Canadians are tough
And to live in this land of beauty
Handling all seasons is our duty
So let’s get through the night
Other winter days will be bright

Thanks for your kind words and feedback, sorry for late comment, I came back to this poem weeks later on a similar wintry day!

Reminds me a lot of a Robert Frost poem, and for the life of me I can’t remember

Excellent poem! I loved it and reminds me how cold it gets yet, I am warm in my heart!
Liz Westwood from UK on January 17, 2020:
The winter in the UK can be dull and damp. We were recently with friends who bemoaned the fact that they have been unable to get out and pursue their hobby of walking for several weeks due to poor weather. We used to have more snow and ice years ago. Temperatures tend to be a little milder these days. Having said that, one heavy fall of snow can create chaos with the UK transport system and sometimes power outages. Your poem paints a vivid picture so that I can picture what it's like where you live.

I agree with you. It can be beautiful but when the wind is howling and temperatures are low it is a bit too much for me.
Pretty to look at on a sunshiny day.

A reminder of the cold and wonderful warmth of winter. It is one of my favourite seasons although I think each season has its own special qualities. A wonderful poem Nella - loved it.
