Mother

Agony of birth,
time of mirth,
born in meekness,
taken by darkness.

Slave to love,
the crimson dove,
abused by sexuality,
broken by maternity.

Cheated in wage,
ravaged by age,
abandoned by progeny,
devoured by misogyny.

Go 'round the bend,
alone in the end,
time to die,
and not know why.
