A Missing Piece: Brenda Arledge Poetry Prompt Response 50

Well hello again. I'm just about caught up with all of Brenda's prompts, the final two haunting me every time I look at my phone. I took a step back, focusing on other areas of life as well as making decisions on where I wanted my writing to go. A month or so ago, I had a burst of inspiration. You know the kind - where the words just flow and everything makes sense. Looking back on those pieces today, I realized this was the perfect response for week 50, puzzle.

Just a little

to take off the edge,

always how it starts.

Something to numb;

something for relief;

something to feel alive.

Down the rabbit hole,

a willing jump —

escape is far too good.

Run,

keep running,

tumble and fall.

Getting lost is the only way

you'll ever be saved.
