A rainy day and extra time slotted in my schedule means it's time for more poetry prompt responses. This evening I tackled week 31, secrets. Per usual, I allowed my imagination to run wild and ended up heading down a brambly path.

As always, a big thank you to Brenda for these prompts!

White lies

harmless fancy

slowly fade to grey

with each further step

a skip

becomes a hop

easier, every advance

leaping in bounds.

No yellow to be seen

this road is paved

in blood,

living and breathing.

Mesmerized by the flames

a comforting heat

inviting a touch

...or two.

Little white lies

murky grey lines

it's all muddied up

further along

this one way road.

Dark secrets locked

in each passing sign

pay no attention

to the screams

pick your spot

because it's far too late.
