Happy: Brenda Arledge Poetry Prompt Response 54
Alyssa is an avid reader, writer, and coffee enthusiast. She loves sharing thoughts, ideas, and creative writings with the world.
Sometimes a brilliant idea comes to light, only to be dimmed, and possibly extinguished, as something else takes shape. Such was the case for this piece. What started out as a story under a perfect title, a sunny day marred with thunderstorms, turned into a picture-perfect moment in time.
I'll be saving my title for another piece.
I actually wrote something sunny and bright, imagine that. I just couldn't bear to mar the moment. It didn't fit.
As always a big thank you to Brenda for creating these prompts. I believe I'm all caught up again.
Enjoy.
"It's beautiful isn't it?"
He remarked, looking over at me.
"I know, what a shame
more people don't take the time
to appreciate the sunset,"
I replied, meeting his eyes.
"I was talking about you,"
he confessed, tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear,
sending a jolt of electricity
coursing through my blood.
And so it was with us,
an instant connection;
two lives became intertwined.
From the first moment
I suspected this was different,
the taste of forever sat on my tongue,
living in the embrace
as danced under the stars,
in the bursts of laughter, sideway glances,
and sun-soaked adventures.
