Indiscretion: Brenda Arledge Poetry Prompt Response 34
Alyssa is an avid reader, writer, and coffee enthusiast. She loves sharing thoughts, ideas, and creative writings with the world.
Taking a trip down the timeline, I realized I was a little further behind on the creative prompts than I had thought. Luckily, I was able to sit down this evening and let the words flow. Even luckier, they actually obeyed my command.
Below is my response to week 34, Habit. Like John, I opted to explore the realm of bad habits. Inspired by his amazing words, this is my take. Thank you to John for inspiring me to get back at it and thank you to Brenda for these prompts!
Enjoy.
Indescretion
A trick
fantastic deception
outmaneuvered by the likes
of someone like you.
I guess you were right
everything you said came true.
Bow down
to the Prophet of our times.
Once again fooled,
I guess this
is just who I am.
The illusion was real
I swear I could feel it
filled a hole
you left
and for a moment
the numbness was gone.
A bittersweet sentiment
thinking I could get lost
in this contrived sensation.
But now I know
promise,
I've learned.
And so it goes
I'll be good for a little while.
A trick
fantastic deception
once again
outmaneuvered
by the likes of someone like you.
I guess this is who I am.
