Hope: A Poem

Alyssa is an avid reader, writer, and coffee enthusiast. She loves sharing thoughts, ideas, and creative writings with the world.

At this point, I'm just procrastinating. When the sun is shining, the birds are singing, and weeds are popping back up, it can be a challenge to stay indoors and complete writing tasks.

I have Brenda's latest prompt in the back of my mind and I hope to have something for you soon. In the meantime, here's another piece I think is worth sharing.

This is a take on the theme of hope. In my typical fashion, I have approached it from a surprising angle.

The light is there

just beyond reach.

I keep banging my head

against this wall,

as much as I try,

I can't escape

this invisible field.

But this persistence

just won't fade,

so here I'll stay

wishing to go;

peering out

from behind the glass

wondering why

I'll never reach

that golden orb

calling my name.
