Missed Opportunities: A Poem

sweet brown and lovely skin
a lovelier heart within
soil colored eyes
spoiled were my own
to gaze at such a beauty
you the
woman that has been haunting my dreams
not due to fear
but sheer
infatuation
i thought sourced by my own creation
yet here you are
a shining star
if this be a trap
medusa turn me to stone
so the sight of you
would be my last memory known
a smile brighter than your future
i don’t want to smooch or
sully you in any way
i’m too toxic
while you’re flaws are microscopic
and when we locked eyes
for the first time
a demon and a goddess
produced the oddest
sensation
unlike any other women has yet to recreate
still
complete stillness
i couldn’t move
i couldn’t think
i couldn’t talk
i couldn’t link
letters to make a word
absurd
but the truth
my proof?
i never saw you again
and i still kick myself to this day
for the words that i never got to say
