Childhood Reflections

Author:

Lee is an aspiring writer who makes poems in his free time. Words and lines give him comfort in trying times.

Sometimes, I ask myself where I would be
Had my childhood songs were filled with glee
Maybe it's different, just maybe
I'm free
To be me.

Books and stories were my step-parents
Sailed to marvelous worlds where I can escape
Life was full of vibrant colors there because
I'm free
To be me.

The sound of the radio as I dance freely
The feel of the cold rain as I run and play
The smell of Monday breakfast as I wake
I envy you, young me.
Your innocence and pure bliss.

Young Icarus, don't be afraid to fly
To dream, to laugh, and to cry
The world is wry, but please try
Fight until your last goodbye.

You might read this and be sad
Thinking your future would be bad
It's definitely hard, the life I had
But don't worry, 'coz someday I'll be free
To be me.

Sometimes one ponders to think how life might have turned out differently...if only.

Yet one must make his own time to be free...to be hinself.

The world has sad moments, nothing can be done to reverse this process.

Just move ahead, trying to be your best self.

Some true words of hope and certainly uplifting....life back then...when imaginations were truer than reality...was beautiful and innocent...things sure change...when you grow...time grows along...but the essence is in adapting...and continuing the chain of happiness...even at times of distress...your verse was beautiful and meaningful at the same time Lee...made me remember my days...Thank you...for sharing this beautiful piece...
