The Silent Forest

In a silent forest

I wander down

a lonely path

no guide, no friends

just trees with their leaves

towering over a lonely me

the purpose of,

my journey alone

I have not an answer

or even a thought

for at every fork

I wonder if

my journey alone,

a curious thought,

shall come to an end

I long a company

to keep away

the silence, the sadness

this journey has brought

I wonder why

I’d set foot alone

for the twists and the turns

they never end

I’ll hear a whisper

every now and then

but are they real?

I often ponder

Maybe I’ve been,

alone to long

seeing and hearing

what isn’t real
