Poem: You Watched Me

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Summary of Poem

You watched me is about a parent watching his child grow. The early years are easy filled with laughter but he makes mistakes along the way as he grows up. As one becomes an adult he is thankful for the love and guidance he was given as a child. He is happy his parents are his best friends.

"You Watched Me"

How wonderful the early years
when you could wipe away my tears,
pick me up when I fell down,
tickle me to make me laugh.

How hard it must have been
when I started to grow up,
to watch me make mistakes
time and time again,
with you coming to my rescue
offering a helpful hand.

I am thankful
for each moment of my childhood,
wishing each child
could be so lucky,
knowing your love has made me
the person I am today.

Today I am happy
to have you by my side
with a hug or smile,
reaching out as my best friend.

For some reason this shows I did not reply to your comment.

I am not certain what is going on...but I appreciate your comments.

I am happy this one touched you.
