A Tiger Lily
You Are Still Inspiring Me
You have always inspired me—
You’ve met my standards, so it seems.
To have you still inspiring me,
It makes me very pleased.
Let me tell you how you do it,
It shall not be very tough.
The strength that you have given me,
When life is has been so rough.
Working hard is how you did it,
I didn’t know till after you passed.
I feel like I’ve never known you,
But your inspiration lasts.
You are the only one who inspires me,
A true diamond in the rough.
Your hard work and fearless nature,
Have made me very tough.
There’s at least one you still inspire,
And I’m proud to say it’s me.
If you asked why so inspiring,
I’d say you are what I hope to be.
Explanation of the Poem
I wrote this poem after I thought about my late grandfather. I only met him as a baby as he was dying in the same hospital of lung cancer. I don't know too much about him because I haven't heard my family talk too much about him. What I do know about him I have taken to heart. I take have taken these things that learned about him as encouragement throughout my whole life.
We can still appreciate others whom we have never or barely met. Sometimes remembering someone is what keeps them alive.
