Words Enriching and Limiting Us: A Rhyme With Food for Thought
Val enjoys writing his own style of what resembles poetry, just hoping to catch someone's heart on the same page.
There is a form of communication that transcends the power of words.
-- Joseph B.Wirthlin
Funneling soul through vocabulary's tight neck
can we ever expect to be truly understood
an injustice to soul -- but what the heck
we use words as best as we cloud.
They may seem to rape the silence at time
as staying quiet might say it best with eyes
words have the power of a committed crime
or to uplift someone's soul to heavenly highs.
We live by words, at times pretending to understand
often lowering someone's higher than our ceiling
not that we want to, but can't comprehend
the depth of others; innermost feeling.
How many times we are short of a word
searching in vain for the right expression
resembling someone doing a crossword
as it's not in our vocabulary's possession.
So we settle for anything of closely descriptive kind
dressed into a concept by all readily understood
unaware how words are reducing our mind
not allowing for more refined, just crude.
Well, reading other's minds probably would do
but only in the hypothetical societies of saints
not in a real world of the sinning me and you
where we'd rather keep all verbal constraints.
