Choose a Costume For Me, Who or What Shall I Be

Updated on November 8, 2019

It is such a fun time of the year; Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, all upon us. First things first, what to be for Halloween

A child of the 60's (aka: Hippie)
A child of the 60's (aka: Hippie)

Who shall I be?

The last time I was in a costume; a hippie, was as creative as I could be

A dying dear friend wanted us to do it and that was enough reason for me!

Since then, I've had no desire, but my Granddaughter is so into it

I'd do it for her if I could find the right costume, it would have to be the right fit

She is always asking, Gramma what are you going to be?

I never have an answer, for it’s something which no longer interests me

I love watching the kids, giving out candy, trying to figure out who or what they are

but as far as putting on a costume, I no longer take it quite that far

She was devastated a couple years back; she was Anna, Elsa is who I was to be

I didn’t take it seriously and a sad and disappointed little face, awaited me

She is asking me again this year....guess she'll never give up on me

So I'm asking all of you, keep in mind, I'm a grandmother, who should I be?

Making it official

I don't want to be a creepy creep

No real interest in Little Bo Peep

A little past my prime to be the French maid

and I don't wish to make anyone laugh or to be afraid.....

~~~
Believe it or not, the hippie costume still fits me
However, when my granddaughter asks, who are you supposed to be?
Don't think she'll understand, I can see her confused little expression now
She'll wrinkle up her nose and lift up her brow
~~~

Making it official, should I do it, if so, who or what shall I be?

Open for suggestions, promise to post pictures after, so the suggestion winner, will see

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween everyone

Now this is going to be fun!

Update: I did it, followed through. My granddaughter was surprised and giddy with excitement (even my young grandsons thought me kinda 'cool'! :))

        Yves, you are much too kind, thank you!!

        My daughter told me that my grandson saw me coming up the walk and yelled it’s Elsa. My granddaughter looked out the window and yelled it’s Gramma, Gramma is Elsa! When we made eye contact, she lit up like a Christmas tree...so, yes, the issues I had, throughout the day (I’ll spare ya’ll the details) were worth it!

        Eeyore....love it.

        I couldn’t figure out how to post a pic in the comments section, but that’s not unusual for me. ;)

        You look so very lovely and ethereal, AB.... I mean, Elsa. ;)

        Fantastic dress!! I can only imagine the joy your grand-daughter must have felt when she saw you all dressed up..

        I was Eeyore... which is even better than my random idea. Maybe? I'll ask my son if he knows how to do a before & after "copy & paste."

        LOL Paula don't know about all that...but, yes I definitely received a few accolades from the peanut gallery and with many trick or treaters. I was a big hit, It was a lot of fun!!

        The Elsa dress is now available for future engagements, so just message me when you're feeling more like a princess and less like a hockey player....;)

        Wolf Whistle!! Woo Hoo! That's one sexy Mama...Elsie!! LOL.....

        The last time I went in costume for a party was about 20 yrs. ago.....I went as a Hockey Player...pads, helmet, hockey stick and even skates!! It was easy...I just borrowed the entire outfit from my son!

        Your grandchildren must have given you a Gold Star for this, Grandma! What fun.

        Thank you to all that voted in the poll and/or offered suggestions.

        I need to prepare, I am running out of time!!!

        Although Maleficent won the poll, Elsa won out overall and plus my daughter said, "of course you have to be Elsa" :)

        I will post a picture at some point.

        Thanks again and Happy Halloween!

        Oh no, girlfriend!!. That would break my heart. But I get the joke. She is ridiculous. Have you heard the latest? She can't have children because of, guess what....? Yeah....you guessed it.... Climate change!

        No. I would die before I dressed up as her. I can barely look at her face.

        I thinking more along the lines of a grocery bag, french fries in a box, or some such random, silly thing.

        Honestly, I've dressed up a handful of times. Nothing against Halloween, but I'm more of a give-out-the-candy-and-ooh-and-aah-at-all-the-adorable-little-kids kind of gal----which means I generally stay home. One time my brother even went out when I came to visit him, and I got stuck handing out candy at his house. I think even his neighbors were surprised. Lol I didn't know that was going to happen, needless to say. Hahaha.

        However, this year, I am dressing up for Halloween. I want to be something utterly funny and ridiculous. Don't know what that will be, but I'll think of something. Ha!

        Anyhoo....I hope you'll be Lucy in RED! You'll look fabulous, daaaahling!!!! And don't forget the red lipstick and dark eyeliner. They're a prerequisite. I know these things. Just saying ;)

        Hi Shannon,

        I have great memories of Halloween. When we lived in South Carolina, the next door neighbors would do a haunted basement, we'd have to go down dark spine-tingling squeaky stairs. What was I thinking!?! LOL

        I loved it!!

        One vote for Maleficent. Thanks for playing! :)

        Whahoo and Yahoo. I am ditching the wonderful Harpo Marx outfit. I have tasked my son to make mine in crafts. We could do all tie die. I am thinking a cardboard mask. He wants to buy a huge pumpkin and I go as pumpkin head. Hmmm.

        You're really pretty, so I think you should be Dracula's Lucy. Not Mina, but Lucy. She came to a bad end, but she had fun in the meantime. Lol.

        I'm not a big fan of Halloween either. Christmas is my favorite season. But I do paint my face up for the kids to go trick-or-treating with them. Maybe I should change my profile picture?

        I love the idea of Malelifcent and Mal. How adorable would it be to see pictures of something like that? it's a memory to treasure. Yesterday, someone asked me and a couple of other people if we remembered the haunted houses they used to set up in the purple room at daycare. I can't say that I do, but that's probably because I didn't attend that daycare. My grandma taught there, so whenever I visited, I was with her so I didn't have the same experiences there that this trio of friends did. But it did trigger memories of my grandpa taking me to a haunted train. I think he loved it more than I did. LOL
