Why We Age: A Rhyme with Food for Thought

Val enjoys writing his own style of what resembles poetry, just hoping to catch someone's heart on the same page.

And I am really a happy person, I enjoy life. I think you that on people. I think there's nothing more aging than misery.

-- Michelle Pfeiffer

Why are people looking their age

that is not really a secret anymore

they spend life in their mental cage

not even bothering to unlock its door.

If you attempt to spend an entire day

thinking and feeling what you choose

you'll be able to understand what I say

why those wrinkles are so hard to lose.

It feels impossible to leave our groove

to shift out body to its younger version

as our crappy thoughts we can't remove

to allow our body that magic conversion.

For, body is just another aspect of our mind

all genes catering to what we think and feel

and there is no other esoteric secret behind

no diets, no vitamins, to make us look ideal.

Layer upon layer stresses leave their trace

at age of seven a mental blueprint is done

so whatever mirror displays as your face

is result of stress, not of too much sun.

We constantly carry all imaginable germs

but we get sick only when immunity fails

the one in sync with our mind's terms

while we choose to live in our jails.

Take a look at my profile image above

taken in Hawaii at my age of sixty nine

for little hint what can be done with love

now eight years later I'm still just as fine.

Still not visiting doctors, nor shrink

not pecking on the pills of any kind

well, that's how I daily feel and think

knowing how to let go and to unwind.

Of course I'm writing this rhyme

to advertise my youthful shape

and to brag one more time

but now -- let me escape.
