Why Does It Seem

I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I now live in Daytona Beach, Florida with my wonderful cat Sid.

why-does-it-seem

Why does it seem?

the world is cruel and cold,

when there is aching in one’s heart

and love has gone away.

Why does it seem?

shadows are everywhere

and that the sun won’t shine anymore -

when there is no more love in your heart.

Why does it seem?

things have been turned,

upside down and unbalanced,

when there is no one to hold.

Why does it seem?

gray clouds fill the sky

and rain pours into your soul -

tears like a river flowing down your cheeks.

Why does it seem?

things will never be right again.

What is this power that love holds?

Will it keep you in chains forever?

Why does it seem?

the world may be ending,

when the smiles you shared -

have become frowns.

Why does it seem?

there is no more music,

the world has gone silent

and the heart searches for what it once had.

Why does it seem?

love rules over all.

Is it so very hard to stand tall?

all alone facing a brand, new tomorrow.

Hello Gypsy Rose Lee - Your portray the universal question so well here. There is pain in being alone. We see it all the time. Luckily the poets of the world are vigilant in their search for the answers.

The heartbreak of loss flows through your words here. I understand. This year has been one of great loss for you. May love shine down on you again soon.

Love has many forms if one is open enough to see them.

A life without Love, all right. Who knows why. We have perhaps allowed ourselves to become complacent. In that sense, people like Trump mirrors many of us and gives us a wake-up call. In that sense, he becomes useful.

Ultimately, whatever happens in divine providence, is approved, sanctioned or tolerated by the Divine. God's Hour will always come to change this. When? well I do not know. It is His hour, of course.

Truly great and reflective poetry.

Genna East from Massachusetts, USA on December 04, 2017:

I can't imagine a life without love...it isn't much of a life at all. Thank goodness that once lost, it can be refound when we least expect it. Beautiful words, Rasma, as always, and the music is lovely.

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on December 04, 2017:

A life without love is a dark place indeed . . . but, of course, you are loved, by many . . . and that will have to keep you warm at night for the time being. :)
