International women’s day

International women’s day

Who is a woman?

Who is a woman?

Happy International Women’s Day 2020

Our first guru, Our first teacher,

She defines wisdom, beauty with grace,

And the symbol of hope, and prayers;

She smiles through her troubles,

She draws strength, from her distress,

She becomes strong, to make us stronger;

She inspires us to dream, and desire,

And have vision, with foresight,

She educates, and empowers,

She lifts us up, and motivates,

She is caring, thoughtful, peaceful;

With perseverance, as her essence,

She is your mother, sister, daughter,

Your best friend, and your partner for life;

Be grateful, and respectful towards her,
Not only today, but everyday!

Hi Srianshu!

Good to know that you compose songs. There are many helpful videos available on the Internet, which might help you in this regard. Wikihow is one such example. There are useful articles as well, giving you step by step procedure to upload your own songs on YouTube.

I would have provided you the link, but it’s not allowed on HubPages, to post links. It is considered promotional. You can search through Google, or take the help of your seniors at school/ college.

Wish you all the best and may you succeed in achieving your dreams!

Thank You.

Chitrangada Sharan (author) from New Delhi, India on March 08, 2018:

Thank you Anusha for your valuable thoughts about women and I couldn’t agree more.

Women should not be judged differently, but on the basis of their talent and merits. Things have changed for good, when I compare them with the times, I was growing up. And I hope they will improve further in a positive way.

Today’s women are conscious about their individuality. They know and can decide about their life, career, family etc. Lot of work is yet to be done, but no one can stop the welcome change of women empowerment.

Thank You so much for your insightful comments! Good day to you!

Chitrangada Sharan (author) from New Delhi, India on March 08, 2018:

Thank you Shampa, for sharing your thoughts on this subject. I agree with you, that women should always be loved and respected, and not on one particular day.

I agree with you, Mother’s influence in our lives, stays for the lifetime. I feel good that my children feel the same way about me, as I feel about my mother.

Happy International Women’s Day to you.

Linda Crampton from British Columbia, Canada on March 08, 2018:

This is a lovely poem and a great tribute to women, Chitrangada. I love the fact that you published this on International Women's Day. The flower photos are beautiful.

Anusha Jain from Delhi, India on March 08, 2018:

A meaningful creation. But I think, our problem is that we all look at women differently, try to judge them collectively. Only if we could see them as just humans, individuals with their own separate, unique identities, that would resolve many issues simply.

Shampa Sadhya on March 08, 2018:

The essence of this poem lies in its last line. Respecting a woman only on a particular day is just a show which is equal to humiliation. Every woman deserves respect at every point of time. This poem has expressed the thought quite powerfully.

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on March 08, 2018:

I love the spirit of this post. Happy Woman's Day to you, my friend.

FlourishAnyway from USA on March 08, 2018:

Thank you Peggy Woods, for your kind words!

My mother has always been my ultimate source of inspiration, and motivation. It’s good to acknowledge the contribution of those, who have laid the very foundation of our lives. I believe, I am still learning, through the other women in my life, including good friends like you. More recently by my daughter and daughter in law.

Happy Women’s Day to you!

A beautiful presentation, Chitra, on this great occasion of International Women's Day.

You mentioned it very aptly. The first Guru is the mother. Everybody should realize this fact and be thankful and grateful to women who are always their mentor, inspirer, and caretaker.

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on March 07, 2018:

My mother as well as my grandmothers were my early and lasting inspirations to the person I have become today. Other people happily draw from other sources. Nice accolade to the women who inspire us!
