Where The Heron likes to be

Heron resting

A peep into a secret world

He flew off, high he rose.

Glittering spots of dew now froze.

As he landed near a tree, his feet

clipped sharp on icy sheet.

A slight chance, today, for him to eat

if sun came out and gave some heat

he might not see todays defeat.

He thought the carp would be a treat

if it swam close for him to eat.

His plan was spoiled, as he did meet,

a group of schoolkids, what a noise,

whistling, screaming girls and boys.

He accepted todays defeat.

He stood quite still as in repose

then off he flew in glittering glows.
