When Magnolias Bloom

I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I now live in Daytona Beach, Florida with my wonderful cat Sid.

when-magnolias-bloom

When magnolias bloom,
their scent carries me away,
to a tropical paradise,
where you and I would dream,
beneath the shining moon,
while the sea breezes whispered of love,
while the waves lapped gently against the shore,
somewhere faintly banjos strummed.
In the silvery moonlight,
along the seashore dancing,
just you and I,
surrounded by the scent of magnolias
and palm trees swaying.
Sometimes our dreams,
mingle with reality,
but a fantasy that we would conjure,
with our love -
bound us eternally.
It was then I knew,
it was you I would always adore,
scented magnolias reminding me,
of the kisses we shared,
as tropical breezes carried their scent through the air.
Now my memories,
always take me back,
to that time so long ago in rhyme -
whenever magnolias once again bloom....

*Note the video included is in Latvian but so beautiful and it is Magnolijas Zieds or Magnolia Flower by a wonderful Latvian singer named Victors Zemgalis He sings of searching for this bloom and remembers the days of love he once shared and is always reminded of it all whenever magnolias bloom.

Rasma, I love the intoxicating lemony scent of magnolias. Your poem does their beauty justice.

Lovely, Rasma! I do love magnolias in the spring. They make me smile, just like this poem.
