Wisdom-Light from the Master

"I love his silence.
His silence is my heart’s pole-star.

I love his voice.
His voice is my life’s only nectar.

I love his smile.
His smile is my divinity’s life.

I love his love.
His love is my Eternity’s All." -Sri Chinmoy

When Love Came Dancing

When Love came dancing,

I felt like I had entered Aladdin’s cave.

There the diamond necklaces and crystal gems,

Were of such bewildering beauty,

That my breath quivered and the Heart spoke,

Singing love-songs to the twilight moon.

When Love came dancing,

I was my Beloved’s puppet.

The spells weaved by the intimacy of our encounter,

Caused me to hop up and down like a drunkard,

Swinging with the joy of a thousand rhapsodies;

Erasing all the uncomely shadows in my Soul.

When Love came dancing,

I was a fluttering bird in need of restraint.

I thought only of doing uncanny things,

Throwing myself in flames of arid fire --

A worthy sacrifice,

For the glory of Her name.

O Light, my beautiful Light,

You washed away my veil of miseries.

Drowning in the sorrow of illusions,

I knew not the melliferous sweetness of Thy kiss,

Until my darkness vapourised and I became pierced,

With the honey-coated arrow of Thy Love.

Manatita, The Lantern Carrier. 27th November, 2018.

O Light, my Beautiful Light

when-love-came-dancing

Awake, O Beautiful Soul! Fly!

O luster'd Light, O song-bird of infinity, die!

Die to the mundane ... this ephemeral shadow.

You have forgotten the splendour of rainbows;

Hid your fragrances in thorns, believing

Them to be roses, even while they pierce your Heart.

Awake, my Love, O beautiful Light! Fly!

-Manatita, 29th November, 2018.

O Love, Unlock This Prison-Cell of Illusion

Tossed and abused by the tides of life,

My boat swings – like a pendulum –

Between Light and darkness.

I have gathered my ignorance like treasures,

Locked them away in vaults,

Guarded by hordes of my own demons.

My constant pain, requires a surrender,

That I seem powerless to accede.

In this self-created realm of shadows,

I cling on to transitory pearls, lashing me

Against the waves of turbulence.

“O Love,” says Lantern imploringly.

“Unlock this prison-cell of illusion;

Show me the way to abiding joy.”

~Awakening The Inner Light~

Wisdom-Pearls from the Master

"A blind man
Has a friend:
Light.

A poor man
Has a friend:
God.

An aspiring man
Has two friends:
Joy and Conscience.

A God-realised man
Has two friends:
Heaven’s Pride and earth’s Gratitude.

A rich man
Has no friend,
Not even his soul." -Sri Chinmoy

The poems are lovely, Manatita, especially your last one. The phrase "tides of life" is very meaningful.

Dora Weithers from The Caribbean on November 29, 2018:

It is absolutely satisfying when love comes. When she comes dancing, it takes a soulful heart like yours to translate her into words.

Beautiful phrases also in the other poem, and Chinmoy's quotes always conjure up deep thoughts. Thank you.

Linda Lum from Washington State, USA on November 29, 2018:

"A rich man

Has no friend,

Not even his soul."

What an amazingly eloquent message. There is no true joy in earthly treasures. The love you speak of you have expressed so beautifully. I read these lines again and again and feel nourished.

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on November 29, 2018:

That's a word you don't hear very often...homily. Growing up the priest would give a homily (instead of a sermon). I hadn't heard that word in years until right now.

Be that as it may, beautiful words of inspiration, as always.

Peace and love always
