What Should We Ask For?
What kind of prayer might it be
To bring the wings and set him free
To save them for another day
Rise up and walk like he used to be
We know how we feel now
It didn’t take all this to find out
How long should a family wait
Long enough to think about doubt?
There’s always a test of our hearts
Who invented laughter, was it you Lord?
Thank you, but now we only have tears
Was it for the gifts we always ignored?
Is the part he played just another take
That was no act, we know what’s real
The past is why they gather around him
And tomorrow is what only you can steal
