What Should I Believe?
After so many tired steps up the stairs
They remain in the basement without vision
As the water rises they stretch their toes
Comforted by someone who made the decision
The time has come to ask what’s really true
Miraculous moments of clarity scarcely exist
They show us a child crying for its mother
Will he be betrayed though when he is kissed?
Who is it that agrees with a rumor or a myth?
With the speed of my fears the spear surges
It’s point dipped in the righteousness of whose father?
Below we wait praying no fire of judgement emerges
The face I could kiss for a thousand years is darkness
But an explosion inside today’s dreams is the savior
What sound can helplessness hear that becomes hope?
The skies of battles fought love no earthly neighbor
