What Joey Sees

I can't seem to stop writing poetry or reading poetry. I think it is safe to say I love poetry and I love sharing great poetry with others.

What Joey Sees

What does it mean when you hold your head to the ground?

what sights do dogs see with their nostrils?

The direction of dogs from place to place?

To smell what we can't see around the fringe.

They push the smells on through a muzzle

as a swarm of gnats and bees sting their haunches

as if spring's green can be seen through their noses.

A break from the day to smell the breeze.

Making sense of our worlds from tall to small.

Strong smells that make you take pause.

Your tongue out, it moves as you are moved.

A few hours outside then directly inside.

Then onto my couch, you too, to get comfortable

only, get up to check the cats, their food bowls,

then cook a meal, to touch their hearts with the smell.

Enjoyed your creative take on a dog's life. They sure have a good life if they are loved by families and children and people care for them.

Yes, that's true about the preplanning. I have several drafts lying around! Of course we'll make it....!

Thank you Ann. A lot of it is in the preplanning which may or may not be fair, really. I am super busy and I have sacrificed reading and commenting and write a little at night before bed and publish early in the morning. Once the month is over I am going to go back and take a look at all of our beautiful creations. Ann you are doing great and we will make it (maybe). Jamie

Ann Carr from SW England on April 19, 2018:

This conjures up a tangible picture of a dog's life within your household. Great stuff, Jamie!

I don't know how you manage to create so much poetry. I'm trying to catch up with 30 of them by the end of April and so far I've only done 11. Life gets in the way! I haven't given up though. You inspire.
