What If Then?

I hope we don’t have to suffer
Over the same things we love
We’d find out what we’re made of
But would we still be together?

I wonder if we can do what’s right
Even if the pain is more than we can bear
I don’t want to beg or swear
Risk or regret, I don’t know what’s better

What if then we feel our souls crying
What if then we feel our hearts dying
I know we can always hold each other
Tell me if you would
Tell me it won’t be another

I don’t want to catch pneumonia
Or feel an infection burning inside
How can we live if the moon and tide
Are rolling inside the thunder?

I wonder why you’re so good
The world wonders the same thing
So many people need forgiving
I said, “She will, go ahead and ask her”

What if then we feel our souls crying
What if then we feel our hearts dying
I know we can always hold each other
Tell me if you would
Tell me it won’t be another
