Wet Day in Wonju
My name is Jamie Lee Hamann and I started writing poetry on Hubpages back in 2013. Every year I share a poem a day in April.
Wet Day in Wonju
Wet day in Wonju
held an umbrella too tight
almost losing grip
to fly away on the wind
cocooned under each raindrop.
Resting on a crest
looking out over city
early morning mist
tucks in one corner pulled tight
a Chestnut Tree pushes up.
Eat a cold rice ball
walk by open market squid
eye moved in package
over to row of Turnip
some deep pink or sun yellow.
At night Soeul lights up
jump from noodle shop to bar
for a quick Soju
before walk to the Subway
or before nap on park bench.
Story starts over
back on American soil
driving beat up car
along California coast
up North is ancient Redwood.
