We're in Likeness of Oreo Cookies: A Poem

Val is a life-long practically oriented student of effective emotional and attitudinal responses to the many challenges of life.

Seeing a woman with good look

no married dudes do-or-not react

as if following some morality books

they either admit it or don't, it's a fact.

Human nature overrides all social norms

and it's only for applying our moral brakes

that we suppress those spontaneity forms

and pretend in interacting whatever it takes.

Big question is if that makes us phony

is our proud look always justified or not

or those on high horse are riding a pony

getting away with it or recognized on spot.

Like many a smart therapist would say

let the social charade of pretenses go on

but awareness of it will keep all issues away

thus let us leave the question of honesty alone.

On our gut level we love and hate

and we cannot help it, no matter what

but what could make us noble and great

is opting not ever to act out that crude gut.

Like Oreo cookie man is a layered being

with nothing all devilish or all being divine

and our true nature is surely worth seeing

helping us while choosing to walk the line.

John---Your words could be used as an extension to the poem, and even that smile would add to mine.

I had to smile at this one, Val. Yes, we humans can be multi-layered and what we portray on the outside may be governed by society's norms but hide our true selves. I am partial to Oreo cookies I must admit.

Delilah---I am happy you agree. As someone who likes thinking "out of box", I am always running a risk that people would disagree, while being of a "normal", customary mind-style.

Be well, my friend, and all the best.

I really like this one Val, we are indeed layered beings, just as you say, playing the social charades game often, whether recognized or not
